India and USA are houses on stilts
It is the same in USA. Americans are broadly divided into Whites, African-Americans, and Hispanic Americans. African-Americans are well represented in sports and entertainment. Most Whites do marry Whites, most African-Americans do marry African-Americans. Many cities in USA have a predominantly White neighborhood, a predominantly Black neighborhood, and a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Most African Americans do vote for the Democratic Party. You will not see much unity among Americans. However, when faced with a common threat or foreign aggression, then Americans will unite. At the economy level, USA is also a house on stilts. There is plenty of domestic competition in USA. Americans know when to unite and when to disunite. Indians also know when to unite and when to disunite. Both USA and India are houses on stilts.
In India, in the field of education, private schools are becoming popular and offer better quality education compared to government schools.
It is one person one vote, atheism, capitalism, and private schools that will integrate India into global mainstream.

India: A house on stilts
Another example is West Bengal state and Gujarat state. They also compete with each other. Tata Motors wanted to build the cheapest car in the world, the Nano, in West Bengal. But some hardhead politicians in West Bengal gave Tata Motors a hard time. (Too bad for West Bengal.) Tata Motors simply moved its investments to Gujarat state. (Good luck to Gujarat state.) There you go. Now you know what I mean. There is rivalry among the states, which makes the job of the central government that much easier. The central government/New Delhi no longer has to look for investment for the various states because that responsibility has been pushed to the individual states. Each state has to take care of itself and compete with each other for growth and investments.
Likewise, all the various states compete with each other, which is the strength of India. That is, the weaker the New Delhi government, the more the individual states compete with each other, which is the strength of India. There are more local and regional political parties today than ever before. This is the strength of India. The era of big national political parties in India is over.
India is like a house on stilts. If in 1947 (independence year) India started out as a house with 4 stilts, then today in 2008/2009 she is a house with 10, 12, or 15 stilts to hold her stable. Each stilt is a political party. Each stilt is a niche. Through trial and error Indians continue to move from one niche to another until they find the right niche. Through trial and error Indians continue to move from one political party to another until they find the right political party. This phenomenon of political decentralization has ushered in the era of coalition goverments in India.
Yes, India is like a house on stilts. They say that in a market economy you should find your own niche. Finding your own niche is easier said than done. Do find your own niche or does your niche find you, or do you end up in your niche after having tried all the other niches. It looks like you end up in your own niche after having tried all the other niches. This is what the Indian people have been doing after becoming independent in 1947. It took a few decades, but after having tried all the other political parties, each group ends up in it's own niche. Each niche is like a stilt to hold up the India house. So, if the India house started with, may be, 4 stilts in 1947, today in 2008/2009 she has 10 or 15 stilts to hold her up; and the India house continues to sprout new stilts every once in a while. Some sprouts disappear and others appear to continue to hold up the India house. Isn't that amazing. Yes, India is like a house on stilts.
A decentralized India is an investor's dream. A smart investor would play one state in India against another in order to get the best deal for himself. A smart investor would play one city in India against another in order to get the best deal for himself. Yes, coalition politics has ensured that India is a investor's dream. All the investor has to do is to make the various states inside India to compete for his investments; and this will ensure the investor the best deal.
Furthermore, voters in India have come of age. India became independent in 1947. Through trial and error the voters in India have become smarter. Politics has become increasingly local. That is, local issues like electricity supply, water supply, roads, schools is what voters care for. Even after the 26 Nov 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, the voters were not interested in the Mumbai attacks. For example, about a week after 26 Nov 2008, local elections were held in some parts of India and again voters were only interested in local issues like electricity supply, water supply, roads, schools, etc. It is becoming increasingly hard to get the attention of voters in any other things nowadays besides electricity supply, water supply, roads, schools, etc. That is, the voters would even vote for Micky Mouse if he can give in return electricity supply, water supply, roads, schools, etc. That' s all. Yes, Indian voters have come of age.
The growth in India is mostly in the cities. So, urbanization continues. There is a construction boom in some cities. Do you know that even urbanization can thwart secessionist movements? How? A youth has two choices. He could, on the one hand, go into the mountains and forests and join the secssionist movement just to grab a rifle or on the other hand move to the growth cities where life is fast. Do you know about the life of armed guerillas deep in the jungles and mountains: they are very lucky if they can eat something similar to monitor lizard once in a way. I would imagine that the youth would choose the fast life of the city, not the hard life in the forests and mountains. Nobody wants a hard life. There you go. Even urbanization thwarts seccessionist movements.
The proverbial thorn in the flesh in India is probably IOK or Indian Occupied Kashmir. There is India on the one hand and IOK (Indian Occupied Kashmir) on the other hand. India is Hindu majority, while IOK is Muslim majority. What I have stated earlier about voters coming of age applies to India, not IOK. That is, the voters in India have come of age, while the voters in IOK have yet to come of age. Hopefully, IOK voters too would come of age like the Indian voters. Hopefully, IOK voters would attach greater value to local issues like water supply, electricity supply, roads, schools, etc. If the Indian voters have come of age, then why don't the IOK voters also come of age too? If only the IOK voters come of age, then they could have a better life. If only the IOK voters come of age, then peace and prosperity would improve. We will wait and see. Stay tuned.
If the Indian voter has indeed come of age, then what does this tell you? India is an unprecedented human experiment. Without giving up one person one vote, Indians have managed more than one billion people and delivered economic growth at least in some cities. It's unprecedented. I call it the Indian way: that is, all politics is local. And hopefully, the Indian way will catch on in other parts of South Asia and South West Asia. If the Indian way (all politics is local) catches on in South & South West Asia, then the Indian way would have changed the world for the better.
If indeed the Indian voter has come of age, then, fortunately or unfortunately, this social, political, and economic entity called the Republic of India, the house on stilts, would be around for a long time. Please do get used to it.

Education: the teacher inside the DVD.
For generations we all have been taught by teachers inside the classroom. With the advent of computers, this is changing. DVD’s are replacing teachers in the classroom. There is the classroom teacher in the one hand; and now there is the teacher inside the DVD in the other hand. The classroom teacher and the DVD teacher are not the same. The classroom teacher teaches everything just once. The DVD teacher is better because you can repeat the instructions from the DVD any number of times. And as you keep rewinding and replaying the instructions in the DVD, it is almost impossible not to learn. Thus the educational DVD caters to both fast learners and slow learners; and all you have to do is to keep rewinding and replaying the DVD educational material.
Some time ago I bought CD’s from learnkey.com. in USA. Learnkey.com produces CD’s with educational material. It is excellent. The learnkey.com teacher is inside the CD. When you buy the CD, you have the teacher with you inside the CD or DVD. To my knowledge this is the best way to learn. Learning from the CD or DVD is the best way to learn. This may be the wave of the future. Again, as you keep rewinding and replaying the instructions in the CD, it is almost impossible not to learn. So the advantage is that educational CD’s and DVD’s can be rewound and replayed any number of times; and thus not learning from CD’s and DVD’s is almost impossible.
In sharp contrast, the classroom teacher teaches everything only once. On Monday the teacher will teach chapter one, on Tuesday chapter two, on Wednesday chapter three and so on. While the classroom teacher is teaching, some students are paying attention, some students are not paying attention, and other students fall asleep. This is because in a classroom all the students are not the same; and they are not the same because they are all at different levels of development. Some students are slow learners and others are fast learners. However, if you have the teacher inside the CD or DVD, then the teacher becomes your own personal property; and since the teacher inside the CD or DVD is your own property, you as a student can rewind and replay the lectures numerous times until you understand it thoroughly. This is self-help.
Also, we live in a world where employers want employees to be trained before they are hired. We live in a world where co-workers would not train new workers; co-workers are jealous and uncooperative and would be reluctant to train other co-workers. Co-workers would prefer to keep their skills and experience to themselves. Thus a new worker would have to find ways to train himself. Going to college may be unaffordable to a worker. Therefore, a worker has to buy teacher in CD and teacher in DVD and train himself.
In the Hindu context, the relationship between CONSTANT REPETITION and LEARNING cannot be denied. This is the age of enlightenment for us Hindus. In the Hindu context, learning is self-realization and is within the self because god is within the self. I am god, you are god, and everybody is god. For example, let’s take the mantra. The constant repetition of the mantra helps to steady the mind. Constant repetition of the mantra will eventually make the eye lids shut and the person will go inward. Constant repetition of the mantra will eventually make the eye lids shut and the person will go into a meditative state. This is the nature of the mind. We Hindus have to deal with the mind as it is. We Hindus have to deal with the mind as we know it to be. As Hindus, our knowledge of the mind is backed up with a few thousand years of research work. Sleeping and dreaming is a part of learning. When the mind gets full, it goes into sleep mode and through dreaming it processes all the data and turns it into information; and for Hindus the processing of data and turning them into information is a part of self-realization. Sleeping and dreaming helps to turn data into information. This is learning. We are Hindus. The relationship between constant repetition and learning is part of Hinduism. Practice makes prefect. Now it is for you to apply constant repetition and learning in today’s world. Now it is for you to apply constant repetition and learning to CD’s and DVD’s.
And now for your role, Sir. I guess your role is to influence entrepreneurs in India to produce teacher in CD and teacher in DVD in a wide range of subject matters. This may be the new wave in learning.
Perhaps the government of India should maintain a website with a collection of educational CD’s and DVD’s. This collection of CD’s and DVD’s should cover every subject of the average school and college curriculum. These CD’s and DVD’s can be either bought through mail order or downloaded.
If the federal or state governments of India are reluctant to maintain a website with a collection of educational CD’s and DVD’s for downloading, then I suppose somebody else should do so because it would benefit students enormously.
...................................................................................................................................................
In a society, those who are at the top of the socio-economic ladder are often those who have been trained by the best teachers in the nation; and the best teachers are often out of reach to the have-nots. We must find ways to level the playing field. So teacher inside the DVD may be useful.
Teachers are not all the same; some teachers are better than others. Students are not all the same too; they are all at different levels of development. Teachers are as varied as students. No nation in this world can claim that all its teachers are competent. If they are, then auditing would become unnecessary; and there have been cases in this world where attempts have been made to conceal the findings of auditors. The lack of transparency is a world-wide phenomenon and we may never achieve a world order that is fully transparent. The true state of affairs may never be known; and this is not an Indian phenomenon but a world-wide phenomenon. If you actually think that the top government officials in India know what all the Indian teachers are doing all the time, you had better guess again. Where does this leave the students? It leaves the students with insurmountable problems. If the students are going to wait for the whole of India to change for the better, then they are going to wait for ever. It is better for the students to engage in self-help. This is why I emphasize self-help. The students should rely on teacher inside the DVD for education. This is self-help. For a Third World nation like India which is trying to enter developed nation status as soon as possible, a good education for its children from competent teachers is a must; and competent teachers can be found inside the DVD.
Even when you watch the teacher inside DVD, at some point, you may fall asleep. Don’t worry. You are not missing anything because you can always rewind and replay. If you do fall asleep while watching the teacher in DVD, after you wake up simply rewind and replay the DVD. If you have the teacher inside the DVD, then the teacher becomes your own personal property; and since the teacher inside the DVD is your own property, you as a student can rewind and replay the lectures numerous times until you understand it thoroughly. As you keep rewinding and replaying the instructions in the DVD, it is almost impossible not to learn. So the advantage is that educational DVD’s can be rewound and replayed any number of times; and thus not learning from DVD’s is almost impossible. Some students would need 5 rewinds and replays to achieve a thorough understanding, some students would need 10 rewinds and replays to achieve a thorough understanding, some students would need 20 rewinds and replays to achieve a thorough understanding, some students would need 30 rewinds and replays to achieve a thorough understanding, and I think I would need 50 rewinds and replays to achieve a thorough understanding. The important thing to remember is that eventually every student would achieve a thorough understanding of the subject.
Sometimes you see in the newspaper a photo of a politician giving the best teacher award to a particular teacher. Let us pause and think about it. The politician is giving an award to the teacher. But does it give maximum benefits to the people of the nation? Probably not. Both the politician and the teacher would be satisfied with the newspaper publicity they get. But what do the people get? Not much. We have to find ways to make the award winning teacher to bring maximum benefits to the people.
The award winning teacher can teach only one class at a time. Let us name the teacher as Mr.A. Since Mr.A is a good teacher, we have to find ways to multiply Mr.A. We should persuade Mr.A to teach; and have his teaching to be videographed; the videograph should be turned into DVD; and numerous copies of the DVD can be made and distributed to the students. So, by using DVD’s, we have multiplied Mr.A and distributed his teachings to the maximum number of students. Only if Mr.A allows himself to be videographed is it worthwhile giving Mr.A a best teacher award. The best teacher award is not for anybody; the best teacher award is for those teachers who allow themselves to be videographed.
If I were a politician I would refuse to give the best teacher award to any teacher who refuses to videograph his teachings so that it can be distributed to students.
If teacher inside DVD is available to Indian students, it would offer the students an additional means to get an education. Human beings are diverse and learn in different ways. Some prefer to learn from books while others prefer to learn from educational DVD’s. A well diversified dissemination of education to the masses would be the best bet. Given human diversity it would be unwise to depend on any one way to disseminate education to the masses; a multi-pronged approach would be better.
The advantage is that with educational DVD’s you can get self-paced learning. Using the play, step forward, step reverse, pause, stop, increase playback speed, decrease playback speed, time stretch clock, fast rewind and fast forward, previous chapter and next chapter buttons, you can indeed go at your own pace.
Perhaps the government of India should maintain a website with a collection of its best teachers in DVD’s. This collection of DVD’s should cover every subject of the average school and college curriculum. These DVD’s can be either bought through mail order or downloaded.
..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
I happened to see some video footage on a temple in Kerala. A temple in Kerala gives text books and informative brochures as the offering to devotees instead of sweets as the conventional custom. The temple is located close to National Heritage Centre, Thrissur, Kerala. These are the kind of people that I respect as they merge education and religion. I would hope that people who have books would donate it to temples so that they may be recycled.
Hinduism is evolutionary and espouses everything from idol worship to polytheism to pantheism to spirituality. There is a need for Hinduism to reinvent itself in order to remain relevant. There is a need for Hinduism to merge religion and education. As India’s school going population increases, some of the school goers may detach themselves from the temple as they attach value to education. The school goer will only be attached to the temple if there is reason to be attached to the temple. May be merging education and the temple may make the temple more attractive to the school goers.
Let us take the case of Hindu devotional DVD’s. A producer makes the DVD to be sold for profit. A DVD can contain a movie or devotional songs. After the producer inserts the movie/songs into the DVD, there may be additional space inside the DVD. In the additional space, the seller may insert other video footage called BONUS MATERIAL. So a DVD comes with a movie/devotional songs and bonus material. The next question is what is contained in the bonus material? I guess the producer/seller can insert anything he wants into the bonus material. Often times the producer inserts video footage about how the movie was made into the bonus material. Some times there are interviews with the movie stars in the bonus material. So the bonus material can contain anything from how the movie was made to interviews with the movie stars, etc.
Now for the role of the buyer. A market economy is composed of buyers and sellers. All 6.5 billion of us are buyers and sellers; but at any given time you are either a buyer or seller. You are the buyer because you buy the DVD. If you buy the DVD, then you get to watch the movie/devotional songs and bonus material. If the bonus material contains video about how the movie/song was made, it is not of importance to you. If the bonus material contains video footage about interviews with the movie stars, it is not of importance to the viewer. However, if the bonus material contains video footage about math lessons, physics lessons, frequently asked questions in exams, computer use lessons, etc. then it may be of use to you, your children, and grandchildren. So don’t you think it is better for the seller/producer to insert educational material into the bonus material before selling the DVD to the buyer? You as a buyer should refuse to buy DVD’s that do not contain educational material in the bonus material.
We have to find ways to put religion and education together. If we can find ways to put religion and education together, then we may be able to attract the school going younger generation. So we have to use Hindu devotional DVD’s to spread religion and education. We also need to preach the importance of education to our youth. All the DVD producers in India have to do is to hire some of the best teachers in India and videograph their teaching. The video footage can then be inserted into the DVD’s as bonus material; and this is the two-in-one DVD, giving both religion and education. I do not think that these DVD teachers have to be paid because the publicity the teachers get by being in the DVD will open up other opportunities for the teacher. For example, there may immediately be an increase in students who would want to take private tuition from this famous teacher whom they have seen in DVD.
It may even result in increased sale of the DVD. The people will buy the DVD for two reasons. Some will buy the DVD for devotional songs, and others will buy the DVD for education; either way, the DVD producers get paid.
Who decides what is to be inserted into the bonus material? I guess in a market economy the buyer can have it his way. It all depends on how united the buyers are. If the buyers are disunited then they cannot achieve much. If the buyers are united and insist that they want educational matter in the bonus material, then I am sure that the seller/producer will comply. If the buyers refuse to buy DVD’s without useful bonus material, then the seller/producer will definitely try to satisfy the buyer. Buyers should also boycott retailers and wholesalers who sell DVD’s with non-educational bonus material. It is better for the buyer to insist that the bonus material be of educational matter because it is of benefit to you, your children, and grandchildren. It all depends on how united or disunited the buyers are.

English or Indian English?
Wait a minute/ek moment. It was during the British Empire that the British introduced English to India. I guess one day India will teach Indian English to the world; and the world would have no choice but to fall in line. Yes, the empire does strike back sometimes.
Yes/ji ha, Indian-Americans are well represented in spelling bee competitions in USA. It says something about Indians/deshi and English.
At present, since India is a multi-lingual nation, it would be an asset if Indians/deshi became multi-lingual too. Nowadays, everybody should attempt to be multi-lingual in order to be more successful.
In fact, if you watch the Hindi language newcasters on television, one wonders what language they use. It is either Hindi interspersed with English, or English interspersed with Hindi. Similarly, I would not be surprised if the Mongolians speak Mongolian interspersed with Russian. I guess languages are becoming mixed up. It is good because it integrates the human race. Is fusion becoming the global language? We will wait and see.
There is a surplus of villages in India. She is stretched thin. That is, the villages are not integrated into the global economy. Among the villages, the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. The solution is that Indians have to regroup. The solution is urbanization. Instead of India being divided into villages, she has to be divided into cities, metropolises, and megapolises. Once India urbanizes, she will gain strength socially, politically, and economically. The good news is that it’s happening in India. The good news is that India is indeed urbanizing.
Currently, India is undergoing urbanization. Urbanization will bring social, political, and economic changes in India. No school in this world can you teach as much as life itself can. Urbanization would be an education in itself for the Indian people. It might help to be multi-lingual. For instance, let us discuss the Tamil community in New Delhi. It is the inviolable right of the Tamil community in New Delhi to perpetuate their own language and culture in New Delhi. While being multi-lingual is an asset, political power should not be used to encourage assimilation and integration inside India. While being multi-lingual is an asset, coercion should not be used to encourage assimilation and integration inside India. It is the inviolable right of the Tamil community in New Delhi to continue to marry other Tamils and perpetuate their Ponggal culture. It is the inviolable right of the Tamil community in New Delhi to socialize with other Tamils. It is the inviolable right of the Tamil community in New Delhi to congregate with other Tamils. In some cases, different communities live in different neighborhoods in New Delhi and do different kinds of work; and this is also acceptable because India is a democracy. Sometimes dividing different communities into different neighborhoods helps to maintain social stability too. In any case, Indians have been moving to different parts of India for a better life for decades now. The people are the market. Please leave the market alone. Let the market decide for itself.
Urbanization would pose new challenges to India’s politicians and bureaucrats. We have to find ways to maintain social stability. We have to find ways to divide and rule India. For example, we have to divide New Delhi into different enclaves because it helps to maintain social stability. Each community should have its own enclave inside New Delhi. The Tamils in New Delhi are entitled to an enclave inside New Delhi so that they can continue to live among other Tamils, marry their own and perpetuate their rich Tamil culture. The Bengalis in New Delhi are entitled to an enclave inside New Delhi so that they can continue to live among other Bengalis, marry their own and perpetuate their rich Bengali culture. The Biharis in New Delhi are entitled to an enclave inside New Delhi so that they can continue to live among other Biharis, marry their own and perpetuate their rich Bihari culture. The Punjabis in New Delhi are entitled to an enclave inside New Delhi so that they can continue to live among other Punjabis, marry their own and perpetuate their rich Punjabi culture.
Similarly, the Punjabis in Chennai are entitled to an enclave inside Chennai so that they can continue to live among other Punjabis, marry their own and perpetuate their rich Punjabi culture. The Biharis in Chennai are entitled to an enclave inside Chennai so that they can continue to live among other Biharis, marry their own and perpetuate their rich Bihari culture. Yes, urbanization would pose new challenges to India’s politicians and bureaucrats; and by separating the various communities into different neighborhoods we may be able to maintain social stability.
The Tamil Nadu government/sarkar should not just be concerned about the Tamils who live inside Tamil Nadu, but also the other Tamils who are scattered throughout India. The Tamils who live in other parts of India are the scattered Tamils. The scattered Tamils do remit money back to their families in Tamil Nadu, which is a net gain for Tamil Nadu. The well being of the scattered Tamils is indeed the responsibility of the Tamil Nadu government.
The Bihar government/sarkar should not just be concerned about the Biharis who live inside Bihar, but also the other Biharis who are scattered throughout India. The Biharis who live in other parts of India are the scattered Biharis. The scattered Biharis do remit money back to their families in Bihar, which is a net gain for Bihar state. The well being of the scattered Biharis is indeed the responsibility of the Bihar government.
The Maharashtra government/sarkar should not just be concerned about the Marathis who live inside Maharashtra, but also the other Marathis who are scattered throughout India. The Marathis who live in other parts of India are the scattered Marathis. The scattered Marathis do remit money back to their families in Maharashtra, which is a net gain for Maharashtra state. The well being of the scattered Marathis is indeed the responsibility of the Maharashtra government.
I am surprised that there are some Marathis who oppose the presence of non-Marathis in the Mumbai area. There are Marathis who are scattered throughout India too. I hope the scattered Marathis would make a clear stand about how they feel about the presence of non-Marathis in the Mumbai area.
Besides, made in Mumbai goods are bought all over India. If the Indian buyers refused to buy made in Mumbai goods, then Mumbai will undergo difficulty. Made in Mumbai movies are bought and viewed all over India, which has enriched Mumbai too. There are many people, both Indian and foreign, who have invested in Mumbai. There is no doubt that the Mumbai economy is integrated into both the Indian and global economy.
Firstly, India has to be divided into spheres of influence. It occurred to me that since Maharashtra is Marathi land, it is also the Marathi sphere of influence. Therefore, the Maharashtra government would be well advised to attract non-Marathis to live and settle within the Marathi sphere of influence. If Maharashtra can attract all Indians to live in Marathi land and under the Maharashtra sphere of influence, then you can bet that the Marathi culture would become the backbone of the Indian culture in the future.
Likewise, the Gujarat government would be well advised to attract non-Gujaratis to live and settle within the Gujarati sphere of influence. If Gujarat can attract all Indians to live in Gujarati land and under the Gujarati sphere of influence, then you can bet that the Gujarati culture would become the backbone of the Indian culture in the future.
Let us take the case of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and the other growth areas, which will create growth and employment over the next few decades. Do not wait. You should look into how you can benefit from the DMIC. Therefore, the Tamil community will be well advised to find ways to benefit from the DMIC. May be the Tamil community should find ways to have several Tamil enclaves along the DMIC so that the DMIC will not bypass the Tamil community. The onus is on the Tamil community to make sure that they are included in the growth areas.
Similarly, the Kannada community will be well advised to find ways to benefit from the DMIC. May be the Kannada community should find ways to have several Kannada enclaves along the DMIC so that the DMIC will not bypass the Kannada community. The onus is on the Kannada community to make sure that they are included in the growth areas.
The Orissa community will be well advised to find ways to benefit from the DMIC. May be the Orissa community should find ways to have several Orissa enclaves along the DMIC so that the DMIC will not bypass the Orissa community. The onus is on the Orissa community to make sure that they are included in the growth areas.
The Telegu community will be well advised to find ways to benefit from the DMIC. May be the Telegu community should find ways to have several Telegu enclaves along the DMIC so that the DMIC will not bypass the Telegu community. The onus is on the Telegu community to make sure that they are included in the growth areas.
The Punjabi community will be well advised to find ways to benefit from the DMIC. May be the Punjabi community should find ways to have several Punjabi enclaves along the DMIC so that the DMIC will not bypass the Punjabi community. The onus is on the Punjabi community to make sure that they are included in the growth areas.
Wait a minute. I thought we were discussing the English language, a legacy of British rule in India. Well, the Indians were fortunate that the British ruled India, not some other power. Before British rule India was virtually lawless. There were numerous warlords who were constantly engaging in power struggles in the Indian subcontinent. There were numerous power vacuums and power struggles. For instance, the Muslims and Hindus were fighting each other. Sikhs and Muslims were also fighting each other. Various Hindu groups were also fighting each other. Besides, various other warlords were fighting each other. They were so busy fighting each other that they never realized the cruelty of Sati, which is widow burning. When the British took over India, they gave political stability to the Indian subcontinent; and it was the British who outlawed Sati, which is widow burning. When the British ruled India it was a case of the educated people ruling over the less educated people for the first time in Indian history. All of this is a thing of the past. The past is the past. We are all friends now. The English language and cricket live on in India.
Yes, we were discussing Indian English. What's a six lane freeway called in India? Or rather, what should a six lane freeway be called in India? India has a scientific way to express herself, which is very good. For example, a five seater car in USA is called a 4+1 car in India. For example, pre-university college is called Plus Two. For example, a 10 storey building in USA is called a G+9 building in India. I must commend Indians for scientifically expressing themselves.
Let's go back to where we started. What should a six lane freeway be called in India? In my humble opinion, a six lane freeway should be called a 3+3 road in India. Thus, a four lane freeway should be called a 2+2 road. So, in India, you should have 1+1, 2+2, 3+3 roads. May be, one day, we may even have 4+4 roads in India.
I hope the electronic media in India would cooperate by expressing roads as 1+1, 2+2, 3+3 in their newscasts. It would help to shape the thinking of the Indian people.
In the mean time please keep going/chalte jana. The way to lead life is to never to stop trying. Do not relent. Do not capitulate. Do not surrender. Do not give up. Do not retire. There is no such thing as retire. Keep working. Please work at two jobs for two paychecks; two paychecks are better than one paycheck. If you are tired, please take a break. But do not give up. Keep going/ chalte jana. If you fall, please pick yourself up and keep going/chalte jana. If you fail, try again or try something else. One day you will take your last breath. One day your prana/breathing will detach from your mind and body; and your body will decompose. Some people will cremate your body and throw your ashes in a river or sea. After you are cremated, the next generation will continue. The next generation will also not relent. The next generation will also not surrender. The next generation should also not give up. If they are tired, they should take a break. But do not give up. Keep going/chalte jana. If they fall, they should pick themselves up and keep going. If they fail, try again or try something else.

World Toilet Summit in New Delhi
In November 2007, the World Toilet Summit will be held in the Indian capital of New Delhi. Many years ago, I put myself through college by working as a janitor. Clean the toilet and then clean yourself. To clean the toilet, please use janitorial supplies. To clean yourself, please use a shower and antibacterial soap.
If you do not clean the toilet, it will become unclean. If you clean the toilet regularly, it will stay clean. Do not allow uncleanliness to accumulate. Therefore please keep cleaning the toilet regularly to prevent uncleanliness to accumulate.
Always keep a toilet brush. Each time you use the toilet, please clean it using a toilet brush. I clean my toilet bowl almost every time I use it. I clean it about 5 to 7 times a week. Never let uncleanliness to collect. Keep cleaning it every day.
When in doubt please do ask one of the largest universities in the world, namely http://www.youtube.com/. It is this university, http://www.youtube.com/ which has one of the most comprehensive and ever expanding syllabus. Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words CLEANING TOILETS. Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY. Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words HANDWASHING TECHNIQUE; and then click search. Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words HANDWASHING DEMO; and then click search. After viewing the video clips, please do read the text responses directly below the video clip. You may learn something from the video clip and the text responses. If you do have a good and comprehensive way to give a handwashing demonstration, then please do upload it into http://www.youtube.com/.
Wait a minute. They are not janitors. They are maintenance engineers. Wait a minute. Technicians will tell you that engineers know nothing. They are not maintenance engineers either. Janitors are maintenance technicians. Technicians are the unsung heroes.
I hope the government of India will give free antibacterial soap to my janitorial brothers and sisters.

You also have to keep your teeth clean. It is good to brush your teeth with tooth brush and tooth paste. It may be possible to brush the teeth with tooth brush and without tooth paste too.
Sometimes you use tooth paste and sometimes you do not use tooth paste, but you always use a tooth brush. If you brush your teeth inside a bathroom, please do use tooth brush and tooth paste. If you brush your teeth inside the living room, then please use a tooth brush without tooth paste. If you brush your teeth inside a living room using a tooth brush and tooth paste, then you will make a mess of the floor and you will get scolding from your wife or mother.
Each time you watch television in the living room, please also brush your teeth using tooth brush without tooth paste. It’s called multitasking. Do not waste time. You have to put television and tooth brush together. Each time you watch television, please multitask by also brushing your teeth without tooth paste.
While watching television, please also brush your teeth without tooth paste. Brush your teeth for 5 or 10 minutes, then if your arms are tired, take a break for 5 or 10 minutes, and then brush your teeth again for another 5 or 10 minutes; then rest for 5 minutes before resuming brushing. If you have watched television for 30 minutes, you would have brushed your teeth well several times.
You may have about 32 teeth. Do not miss any teeth. Make sure that you get all 32 of them. If you brush all 32 teeth, it would be considered one round. If you watch television for 30 minutes, then you would have ample time to make more than one round of teeth brushing. When you finish one round, immediately start another round while watching television at the same time.
Please visit your dentist at least once a year.

The 3R’s are Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It is a good thing. The so called scavengers are a good people. I have some friends who regularly put their hands into trash bins to retrieve some recyclable material. They sell the recyclable material to a buyer. My recycle friends are a good people. Recycling is a niche in the market. Recyclers know how to be thrifty. Recyclers know how to be survivors. It is a source of income.
They sell the recyclable material to a buyer. If buyers pay higher prices for recyclable material, then more people will be willing to pick up materials in garbage areas to sell to the buyers. If the government is willing to buy trash at a good price, then you can bet that many more people will be willing to pick up garbage more often so that they can sell it to the buyer.
If the price of garbage is extremely high, then may be, all one billion Indians may opt to become scavengers. It all depends on the price of the garbage.
After picking up recyclable material/saleable material from the garbage disposal area, please clean yourself. To clean yourself, please use a shower and antibacterial soap. When in doubt please ask one of the largest universities in the world, namely http://www.youtube.com/. It is this university, http://www.youtube.com/ which has one of the most comprehensive and ever expanding syllabus. Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY. Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words HANDWASHING TECHNIQUE; and then click search.
Before I forget, please take good care of your lungs. You should try to build your life around your lungs. You should be the lung person. Ideally, Indians should be known as the lung people, and India should be known as the lung nation. Please do some PRANAYAMA breathing exercises often. Apparently, most of us do not use the full capacity of our lungs. Apparently, we use only part of the capacity of our lungs. We need to improve our breathing to use more of our lungs. You may be able to build your life around your breathing. You may be able to build your life around your lungs. You may be able to put breathing and dancing together to develop a breathing dance. If we could use more of our lungs, we would be on the right track.
Irrespective of who you are, there is always room for self-improvement. So in pranayama, you conquer your mind, conquer your breathing, and conquer your digestive system to achieve self-improvement. So in pranayama, you conquer your mind, conquer your breathing, and conquer your digestive system to achieve self-mastery.

It is important that trash goes into the trash can. We should stop the habit of throwing trash anywhere. Remember that trash goes into the trash can. I hope schools teach children to put trash into the trash can. I hope parents also teach children to put trash into the trash can.

Why some Hindus do not eat beef? I do not know. The Indian civilization goes back to a few thousand years. To get the right answer I guess you should ask the Hindus who lived a few thousand years ago, why Hindus do not eat beef; but those Hindus are long since dead. Thus we can conjecture as to why Hindus do not eat beef. But a conjecture is only a conjecture. A conjecture is better than nothing, though. Allow me to conjecture.
Firstly, you have to think of the word “distance”. Yes, “distance”. It all depends on how close or far away from the animal you are. That is, the “distance” between you and the animal.
For example, you may eat chicken, but you cannot even imagine eating you pet chicken. Why? Because of “distance”. You are closely attached to your pet chicken and therefore eating something that you are closely attached to is unthinkable. However, eating chicken purchased from the market is not a problem.
For example, you may eat pork, but you cannot even imagine eating you pet pig. Why? Because of “distance”. You are closely attached to your pet pig and therefore eating something that you are closely attached to is unthinkable. However, eating pork purchased from the market is not a problem.
For example, you may eat mutton, but you cannot even imagine eating your pet goat. Why? Because of “distance”. You are closely attached to your pet goat and therefore eating something that you are closely attached to is unthinkable. However, eating mutton purchased from the market is not a problem.
In the case of the cow, this domesticate bovine became closely attached to Hindu society. The bovine gives milk, pulls the cart, and plows the land. It gives a lot to man. Thus, Hindus became attached to the cow. Some Hindus in villages have a cow in the backyard. Some Hindus even honor the cow by painting its horns, garlanding it, and giving it a pet name. Oops! This is the mistake the Hindus made. They got too closely attached to the cow and therefore cannot imagine eating it. Hindus DO NOT worship the cow; they do LOVE the cow.
The USA and Western world are highly urbanized societies. The farm sector or the rural sector has been reduced to a small section of the work force. Most Americans know much more about the supermarket than the farm sector. Through television Americans have seen farm animals, but few Americans have had personal encounters with farm animals over a long period of time. Thus, Americans are not closely attached to cows. It is “distance”. Thus, eating beef is not a problem in USA.
The reality is that in USA the cow is transported from the farm to the slaughterhouse; from the slaughterhouse to the supermarket; and from the supermarket to the refrigerator in the kitchen. For example, the American pre-schooler would probably think that beef comes from the refrigerator in the kitchen. The American 10 year old has seen frozen beef in the supermarket. Americans are largely an urbanized people and are attached to the supermarket, not the cow in the rural area.
In the case of India, she is a developing nation. She is largely a rural nation which is continuously urbanizing. The developed nations are already urbanized and no further urbanization may be possible. India is a developing nation and therefore can do what the developed nations cannot do: that is, she can urbanize. In fact, this may be one comparative advantage that India has over the developed nations: the ability to urbanize. Everyday urbanization is increasing in India. With India and China urbanizing, in the next few decades, we may be witnessing one of the greatest migrations in human history. In the next few decades we may be witnessing one of greatest regroupings in human history.
With urbanization, cities will swell in population. The cities with the greater population will have more political, social, and economic influence in shaping the India of the future. For example, if Ahmedabad grows to be bigger than Mumbai, then the Gujarati culture may even become the backbone of the Indian culture in due course.
..............................................................................................................................
As regards to the caste system among Hindus, it is sort of a job classification and division of labor. It does not take too long before you realize that it may be based on laziness: the idea is to make someone else do the unpleasant job. The ulterior motive of the caste system is to make someone else do the hard and unpleasant work: that is, I will do the easy work and let someone else do the unpleasant work. If you have lived in this world long enough you would know that there are always some people who are always conniving to avoid the hard or unpleasant work. If you have lived in this world long enough you would know that making someone else do the hard work is not an Indian phenomenon but a world–wide phenomenon. (Thus, the caste system is a world-wide phenomenon). However, the economy is changing. India is slowly urbanizing. The changing economy requires India’s human resources to be increasingly multi-skilled. In the old days, a mason was only a mason; a rice farmer was only a rice farmer; a soldier was only a soldier; and a priest was only a priest. Nowadays, each individual is required to be multi-skilled. Thus a rice farmer has to clean his personal toilet, drive his personal two-wheeler, cook his own food, do his own laundry, learn to use the needle and thread, and join the army reserves to defend the nation. Similarly, the priest has to clean his personal toilet, drive his personal two-wheeler, learn to use the needle and thread, cook his own food, do his own laundry, and join the army reserves to defend the nation. When in doubt please do ask one of the largest universities in the world, namely, http://www.youtube.com/. It is this university, http://www.youtube.com/ which has one of the most comprehensive and ever expanding syllabus. Yes, if you go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type words like CLEANING TOILET, COOKING, and HOW TO SEW A BUTTON, HANDWASHING DEMO etc. you may learn a lot. If you have some video footage to add, please do upload it to http://www.youtube.com/. Gosh! I forgot to clean my toilet after use. I shall clean it now. Bye, bye.
I’m back. One way to get rid of the laziness is to engage in sports and exercise to build your muscle. When you are physically fit work becomes less of a chore. This is where RIGHT and MIGHT are both important. In my humble opinion, it is a battle between righteousness and unrighteousness. The unrighteous will not surrender without a fight. Neither should the righteous surrender. We, however, have to defeat the unrighteous. To defeat the unrighteous you must be “hard” not “soft”. This is where RIGHT and MIGHT are both important. Just because you are right does not mean that you can win; you must also have the MIGHT to defend your RIGHT. You must engage in sports and exercise regularly to build muscle. I hope more Indians would attach value to RIGHT and MIGHT. When you build muscle you can be more hardworking; this is good for the economy. Therefore, RIGHT and MIGHT will bring overall benefits.
Physicians do recommend physical fitness to the people.
To get an education you have to sit and read the book for long hours. Sometimes when you read the book, you may fall asleep. However, if you are physically fit, then you would not fall asleep easily. To be physically fit, please do some sports and exercise regularly. There you go. RIGHT and MIGHT brings social benefits too. Therefore, RIGHT and MIGHT will bring overall benefits. Try RIGHT and MIGHT.
Gosh! I feel hungry now. I need to make some noodle/pasta soup. Bye bye.
....................................................................................................................................................................................................
Let us discuss how to do your laundry.
1) Firstly, you have to buy a plastic bucket. It should be 300mm at diameter and 300mm at height. You can buy a bigger or smaller plastic bucket if you want.
2) Fill the plastic bucket with water and put your long pants into it. The bucket now contains water and pants.
3) Store the plastic bucket with your pants in your living room for 24 hours. Your pants will, after 24 hours, be well soaked in water. After 24 hours in water, some (not all, but some) of the dirt particles in your pants will loosen up.
4) After 24 hours, please de-water the bucket. The bucket now contains only the pants.
5) Take the bucket and pants to a good location (close to the wall) inside your room. Lift the pants from the bucket and hook the pants to a wall. (If you do not have a hook on the wall, then hammer a nail to the wall to make a hook. The nail should be about 6 feet above the floor.) Hook the pants to the nail and put the bucket below the pants.
6) When we look at it, on top would be the nail; below the nail would be the pants; and below the pants would be the bucket. Leave it in this position for 48 hours.
7) For 48 hours water would drip from your wet pants and fill the bucket below. After 48 hours or 60 hours your pants would be dry and ready to be used by you.
8) Next, you can now repeat the process. Next, you can now soak your shirt using bucket and water for 24 hours. It is a cycle process. If you do it well, your bucket will always be used everyday. Never allow your bucket to idle.
9) You can also put your pants and underwear together into the same bucket of water; and you can also hook your pants and underwear to the same nail for drying. So on Monday you would put your pants and underwear into the bucket of water; on Thursday you would put your shirt and underwear into the bucket of water, and so on. If you use two buckets and two nails, then your quantity of wash and dry would increase.
10) Even after hang drying your pants for 36 hours, you may be able to wear your slightly wet pants. It will be slightly uncomfortable to wear half dried pants, but once you wear it, your body heat will dry it up in about 2 to 3 hours. It is like wearing your clothing on a rainy day when you got caught in the rain: again, your body heat will dry it up.
11) Using water without soap (to do your laundry) is not the cleanest way. It is an inexpensive way. But it is better than nothing. Once in a few weeks you should, however, do your laundry using cleansing agent and water.

Who are the toilet cleaners in India? It would be unfair to comment before knowing more about the subject matter. To know more about the position of Brahmins in India, please do the following. When in doubt, please do ask http://www.youtube.com/ ; it is one of the largest and most comprehensive universities in the world; http://www.youtube.com/ is also a repository of information that continues to grow daily.
Please do go to http://www.youtube.com/ and type the words BRAHMINS IN INDIA HAVE BECOME A MINORITY. Next, click search. Next, watch the video footage.
Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak in the video footage clearly states that since socially the Brahmins are number one, so the whole world has the false impression that Brahmins are number one economically too in India. Socially number one does not mean economically number one; likewise economically number one does not mean socially number one too. The video footage proves that Brahmins are not number one economically in India today. Please see the video footage before arriving at a conclusion. I quote that the footage states that 50% of the rickshaw pullers in New Delhi’s Patel Nagar are Brahmins. About 75% of the domestic helps and cooks in Andhra Pradesh are Brahmins. You will see Brahmins who work as taxi drivers, toilet cleaners, sweepers, etc. Most of the video footage is in Hindi language, but towards the end there is some text in English; it states that 70% of people employed in 1783 public toilets in Delhi are Upper Caste Hindus.
Please do view the video footage before arriving at a conclusion.
.....................................................................................................................................................................
Wait a minute/ek minute kijieh. We are dealing with “distance”. Let us continue. Indians have the habit of sitting in the lotus position and eating. That is, they put a plate of food/khana on the floor, then sit cross legged and eat from the plate using their fingers. This is not the best way. We have to maintain a distance from the floor. Dust settles on the floor. When somebody walks by, it kicks up micro dust particles from the floor unseen to the human eye. Just because these micro dust particles are unseen to the naked eye, it does not mean that they do not exist. We have to maintain a “distance” from the floor as much as possible for eating as well as working. We should use our public school system to teach the next generation of children/bacchein the advantages of using tables and chairs for eating and working.
Even using fingers to eat is not the best way. Dirt particles/impurities do accumulate under the finger nail. Also, using fingers to eat allows grease and spices to collect under the finger nail. Later on, if you do not wash your palms with soap and water, then the grease, spice, and odor remain in your palm. If you start working immediately after eating with your fingers, you risk passing the grease and spice on to the books or tools that you use for work. Ideally we want Indians/Deshi to subscribe to the word CHANGE. It is a changing world. We will not be opposed to change. No school in this world can teach you as much as life itself can. We will keep learning. I assure you that what your parents and grandparents taught you is not sufficient: you have yet a million new things to learn. We want to be multi-skilled; that is, to be able to use fingers, fork and spoon, and chopsticks to consume food.

Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC)
My friend had warned me that I would not last for more than a day working for the Japanese. I did last for more than a day working for the Japanese. I felt I must prove myself, instead of surrendering. Initially there would be aches, pains, and headaches. Pretty soon your mind and body would be broken in and all the aches, pains, and headaches would disappear and you would have a smile on your face.
In school I was not an A grade student. I was more like a C or D grade student. It doesn't matter. My work environment is my school. No school in this world can teach you as much as life itself can. I worked with the Japanese to prove to myself that I was better than them. It was fun. I am grateful to the Japanese for having hired me. May my Japanese brothers and sisters live happily ever after.
A developing nation is like a growing child. In sharp contrast, a developed nation is like an adult who has long since stopped growing.
A developing nation is like a growing child and therefore changes every year. A developed nation does not change much yearly. Developed nations do grow but usually grow slower than developing nations.
India is a growing child. As she grows she should always be stable and be at rest with herself. The DMIC offers opportunities to India’s youth to prove something to themselves. There is a difference between working hard and working smart. It is better to work smart than to work hard. As you gain more experience, you can reorganize things so that you can work smart, not work hard. As you understand your work better, you will know how to work smart. As you understand your work better, you will know which work is important and which work is less important. As you understand your work better, you will know which work to do first and which work to do later. As you understand your work better, you will know which work to do today and which work can wait till tomorrow. As you understand your work better, you will know which work will require a high degree of accuracy and which work does not require a high degree of accuracy. As you understand your work better, you will know when to take a break and when not to take a break.
Yes, there are risks involved in the construction industry. Please be careful. You can take risks only if you know what you are doing. It all depends. You can take risks provided you are sharp, stable, and if you are calculated. Please do not be foolhardy. I have lost a few friends permanently probably because they were not paying attention, or not alert, or foolhardy, etc. Without calculating you should not take any risks. Always be stable and be at rest with yourself. Please follow the instructions to be cautious. Be cautious. Be cautious. Be cautious.
A good worker will know his territory which is his work station. He will defend his work station. He should not allow anybody to wander into his work station. He should not allow others to touch the equipment in his work station. He also should not wander into another persons work station too. Your work is your work, and my work is my work. You do your work and I will do my work. You should be stable and be at rest with your work.
No matter how big the project is, there is a way to simplify it. It is all about one person one work or one person one task. The big picture is decomposed into smaller pictures. Eventually it is about one person one work or one person one task.
To my youthful brothers and sisters I say that do not surrender easily. Do not give up easily. Construction work is not complicated. It is not difficult because it is all about one person one work or one person one task. The work is divided into tasks. Each person will do a specific task. It is something like one person one work, or one person one task. The whole project is the big picture; and the big picture is decomposed into smaller pictures. All you have to do is your part, which is your task. You do not have to know anything about the big picture. As long as you do your specific task, you are useful. Since you are doing the same specific task every day, it would not be complicated for you.
Always remember that no matter how big and complicated the big picture looks, it can be simplified using one person one task.
Technicians will tell you that engineers know nothing. Not quite. At least I can safely say that a technician knows his own work better than an engineer knows the work of the technician. (Technicians are the unsung heroes.) Likewise, I am sure that the technicians know very little of the engineers work. Both technicians and engineers should be stable and be at rest with their work.
Both technicians and engineers have to look at the plan often. Everybody in construction should look at the plan often. Therefore it is important that all of them learn to read the plan. Everything is centered on the plan. To find out more about plan reading, please go to http://www.google.com/ and type the words PLAN READING. Also to find out more about plan reading, please go to http://www.google.com/ and type the words ENGINEERING PLAN READING. Please do make sure that you keep one copy of the plan at home. Even when you are at home, please do keep studying the plan. Whenever you get some time, please do look at the plan. The more often you look at the plan, the more you would remember about the plan. As you keep looking at the plan, slowly but surely, everything in the plan will demystify and become clearer and clearer. As you keep studying the plan again and again, the plan will take root in your mind. This is the employer’s dream. Yes, the employer’s dream is to have an employee technician to have the plan in his mind.
Like all other industries there are violations to cut costs or violations to get kickbacks. Thus there may be engineers who might not want technicians and workers to have access to the construction plan. One way to reduce violations is to increase transparency. It is in the best interests of the nation that the maximum number of people see the plan often. It is in the best interests of the nation that the engineers, technicians, and members of the public have access to the plan. One way to reduce violations is to have the maximum number of people to monitor the implementation of the plan. Thus, if it is possible, may I suggest that the construction plan be posted in an Internet website in order to make sure that the maximum number of people can monitor the implementation of the plan.
A project is divided into different sections or different departments. The different departments may share a common garbage area where they dispose of rubbish or unwanted material. Please do visit the garbage disposal area often. Look around. You may be surprised by the number of useful things that you can find which could be used for your work. Another worker’s unwanted material may be wanted material for your work.
I have not known of a people who are as dedicated to their work as the Japanese. I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do. Japanese punctuality is hard to beat. It would be hard to prove that Japan had benefited from well qualified and talented immigrants as USA has. With a population of 127 million and100% literacy rate, Japan is no nation for Indians to ignore. India is a non-aligned movement nation. Japan is a developed nation, while India is a developing nation. It is unlikely that Japan would grow as fast as she did in the 1950's and 1960's. This is year 2007 and now it is India's turn to grow. It would be naive of Japan if she did not take advantage of India's growth potential. A closer relationship between Japan and India would be mutually beneficial. Both are Asian nations. My personal experience tells me that Japanese and Indians would have few problems working together. I dare say that I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do.
Japan is the nation with the highest literacy rate in the world. She also has the highest life expectancy rate in the world.
Both Japanese and Hindus generally cremate the dead.
Unlike me, few Japanese have an obesity problem.
During the Second World War, Japan was able to briefly defeat (about 40 months) the Western colonial powers and occupy parts of East Asia and South East Asia. For the first time, the Asians saw the White people’s troops running for their lives while being chased by the Japanese troops. And this was it. It was an eye opener for Asians. It changed the history of Asia forever. The Asians realized that White people are not invincible. After the defeat of Japan in 1945, when the White people returned to repossess their colonies in Asia, they were surprised that Asians had changed. The Asians became more assertive and demanded independence from White rule. One by one all the Asian nations became independent. The Cold War ensued and nations had to choose sides. Amidst the Cold War, some nations decided to remain NAM nations. May be NAM is relevant or irrelevant in year 2007. I do not know if NAM is relevant or irrelevant in year 2007. In any case, our motherland India cannot afford to give up on her sovereignty and independence. Indians should think carefully and decide in the best interests of India.
By the 1960's, the Japanese made a second invasion of Asia. This time the Japanese did not send troops. This time the Japanese flooded Asia with made in Japan goods, which almost drove the made in Europe and USA goods out of the Asian market.
The first attempt by the Japanese, using the code of bushido, proved to be a failure. The Japanese are quick at learning from their mistakes. They may never ever make this mistake again; and the objective is to correct your mistake. The code of bushido is a big mistake. The code of bushido may have outlived its usefulness. Today’s world and yesterday’s world are different. Yes, the code of bushido might have outlived its usefulness. The second attempt by the Japanese was markedly different. Post-war Japan had shunned the code of bushido. Post war Japan switched from military to economics; yes, the Japanese had corrected their mistake. Post-war Japan was centered on work, work, and work. It is possible to live without the code of bushido, but it is almost impossible to live without work. Anybody can live without the code of bushido, but not too many people can live without work. You must be stable and be at rest with your work. I have not known of a people who are as dedicated to their work as the Japanese. I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do.
One way to engage in self-improvement is to try to never to repeat your mistakes. The first attempt by the Japanese, using the code of bushido, proved to be a failure. The Japanese corrected their mistake by switching from military to economics. By the 1960’s Japan was a producer of goods, though their goods were not of the best quality. By the 1960’s if a product broke down, the joke was that it was made in Japan. Yes, the Japanese are quick at learning from their mistakes. They corrected their mistake again. By the 1970’s the quality of made in Japan goods had already improved significantly. They corrected their mistake again. By the 1980’s the quality of made in Japan was on par with made in Europe or USA goods. They corrected their mistake again. By the 1990’s the quality of made in Japan had in some cases surpassed made in Europe or USA goods. Yes, the Japanese are quick at correcting their mistakes. This is year 2007 and not too many people joke about the quality of Japanese goods these days. One way to engage in self-improvement is to try to never to repeat your mistakes.
Yoga is about you, the self. The most noticeable sign of your soul/atma/chi/spirit/lifeforce is probably your heart and lungs at work. Your heart and lungs never stop working. Even when you are asleep or in a coma, your heart and lungs work tirelessly. The heart and lungs are connected like gears. When one gear increases speed, the other gear also automatically increases speed. When one gear reduces speed, the other gear also reduces speed. So by working on one gear you can influence the other gear. So the heart influences the lungs, and likewise, the lungs influence the heart. The lungs and heart are interdependent. When your heart and lungs stop working, your body decomposes. Yoga is about achieving personal stability. In yoga it would not be asking too much if we expect results today. Yoga is about you preparing to deal with today’s world, not the afterlife.
Just because you have god presence/atma/chi/soul in you, it does not mean that you are doing everything right. Just because you have god presence/atma/chi/soul in you, it does not mean that you are perfect. Your soul may be stable, but you are unstable. Your soul may be neverchanging, but you are everchanging. Your objective in life is to reach into the self and be at rest with the god/soul within you. Your objective in life is to merge with the soul within you. The soul is a subtle and stable force within you. The soul is a stable and tame force, not a wild force. To reach the soul, you have to tame yourself, firstly. To reach the soul, you must be on par with the soul. To be at rest with the soul you have to tame yourself. The soul is stable and you are unstable; the soul is never-changing, and you are ever-changing. Your objective is to merge with the soul; your objective is to be at rest with the soul. One way to merge with the soul is exercise. This is the physical approach. I recommend the physical approach. The physical approach is one approach, not the only approach. As far as I am concerned, the physical approach is the only practical approach. Therefore I always recommend the physical approach. There is a solution. Try yoga. Yoga can bring about greater stability of mind, soul, and body. If you don’t like yoga, try the Tai Chi dance or Qigong. They do have yoga, tai chi, and qigong instructions in DVD’s. If you do not like yoga, tai chi, or qigong, then try walking for fitness. If you prefer muscle-building, then please go into muscle-building. Muscle men have been known to be hard working people. If you prefer soccer, then please do try soccer. Engaging in sporting activities is also a way for the youth to prove something to themselves.
Do not think even for a moment that the yoga practitioner is resistant to change. Change, in itself, is not important. You have to direct your change. You have to direct your destiny. If you have a stable character within, you can direct your change. If you have a stable character, you can direct your destiny. In yoga we will use our strength to shape and reshape this world into a better one. For example, in archery, the bow is motionless and the arrow is put in motion. For example, in walking, one leg is motionless and the other leg is put in motion. So there is a relationship between motion and motionlessness. It would be difficult for an archer to hit his target without personal stability. From this you get goal setting and goal achieving. You should have a plan or plans in your mind. What's your plan? You should have a plan or plans in your mind.
Do you have a plan? I might have a plan for you. Try reeling in the wandering mind. Yes, reel-in the wandering mind. Don’t let your mind wander too much. The more you think, the less you can act. Do not dwell on the past, and do not think too much into the future. Take life one day at a time. I might have the solution on how to reel-in the wandering mind. Read on.
The foundation stone of our view of the universe has something to do with Einstein’s equation E=mc2. If you look into your mirror you would see your body, but not your Being. Your Being is inside the atom. It is subtle. The subtlest is at the innermost part of the atom. It is so subtle that it cannot be seen with the naked eye. In fact, you have not seen your Being at all. It has something to do with the field of quantum mechanics; and this area is unstable and illusive; and scientists have never been able to pin down the primary building blocks. Atoms are everywhere. It is pantheism. If you are looking for god, this is all you can get. If you are looking for God, this is as close as you can get. God is energy; energy is God. There is no creator because you cannot create energy or destroy energy. Since energy cannot be created or destroyed, then there is no beginning; if there is no beginning, then it follows that there is no end. So, there is no beginning and no end. Anything that has a beginning has an end. Anything that has an end, has a beginning. If the so called creator created man, then who created the creator?
The heart, lungs, mind, body, and soul are all connected like gears. If you move one gear, the other gear moves automatically. If you stop one gear, the other gears stop automatically. To move the mind, you have to move the body; likewise to move the body, you have to move the mind because both of them are connected like gears. The mind often wanders away. So how do you bring the mind back to the self/body? By moving the body. When you slow motionly move parts of the body, the mind is forced to pay attention to moving the parts of the body; and thus the wandering mind is brought back to the body; and this is how you reel-in the wandering mind. They say that an idle mind is a devils workshop. When your mind is idle, immediately give your mind something physical to do: that is, do slow motion movements with your fingers, or legs, etc. It is similar to yoga stretches. The slower the motion, the better it is. Immediately your mind will pay attention and get busy with moving the body parts; and you would have reeled-in the wandering mind. Just as an angler reels-in the fishing line by cranking the reel, you do slow motion movements with your body parts to reel-in the wandering mind. Yes, this is Tai Chi as I understand it to be.
The slower you do it, the more benefits you will get. Why? Because god is a subtle thing. God is inside the atom. It is so subtle and so small it cannot be seen with the naked eye. It is so subtle that you have to slow down to be at rest with the subtle thing. To be at rest with the subtle thing, you must slow down.
The slower you do it, the more benefits you will get. There are some physical training instructors who say that the most beneficial exercise is “go slow, go long” exercises. Tai Chi helps you to forget the past and move on with your life. Whenever you are reminded by something that hurts you, please do some slow moving exercises to calm and still the mind and forget the past. Whenever you feel nervous, do some slow motion movements with your fingers or hands to calm and still the mind and forget the nervousness.
A calm and still mind is a confident mind. Rightfully, the mind should at all times be centered within the self/body. The objective is to be a well centered person. The objective is to have the mind centered within the self. Yes, rightfully, the mind should at all times be centered within the self. But the mind often wanders away. The objective is to bring the mind back to the self and be at rest with the self.
Rightfully, the mind should at all times be centered within the self. But as human beings our minds keep going astray. So, do some Tai Chi to bring the mind back to the self.
After a hard days work in a competitive environment I would not be surprised if you would be a scatterbrain; and to regain your composure, please do so some slow motion yoga stretches called Tai Chi. I would not be surprised if your back ache disappears within weeks.
A still mind is not a weak mind. A still mind is a stable mind. A still mind is a confident and firm mind.
The Economic advantages:
Well exercised workers would have a calm and still mind and be productive in the work environment. Hotheads can hardly make productive workers. A worker with a calm and still mind would be competitive.
The Social advantages:
If your mind is calm and still, then you would be well centered; your mind would wander away less often; and you would be less of a troublemaker. Troublemakers are often restless people with wandering minds. Restless people use alcohol to pacify themselves. If restless people do not get alcohol to pacify themselves, then they really become a problem because they would become troublemakers. There is another way. Try the slow motion Tai Chi dance. Use the slow motion Tai Chi dance to pacify yourself. At least theoretically, an increase in Tai Chi, would result in the reduced intake of alcohol and tobacco. Never allow yourself to have an idle mind. When your mind is idle, immediately give it something to do: that is, do some slow motion movements with your body parts. The slower the motion, the more the mind has to pay attention to the slow motion movements. The slower the better.
The Educational Advantage:
Practicing Tai Chi regularly would give you patience and your restlessness would disappear. To get good grades in school you have to sit on a chair for long hours and read the book. If you are restless, you cannot sit for long hours and read the book. So, try Tai Chi to make your restlessness disappear. Soon you would be sitting for long hours reading books and getting good grades in school.
How to turn a hothead into a coolheaded person? Try the slow motion taijiquan dance. Try any slow motion dance similar to Tai Chi. You can make up your own slow motion dance similar to Tai Chi. If you are doing it right, your breathing will change. If you maintain this slow motion dance for a few minutes, then pretty soon your breathing would change, which is a healthy phenomenon. When your breathing changes, you are having communion with god. This is more than an exercise. It is communion with the divinity within you. Any Yoga practitioner will tell you that there is a close relationship between Yoga and breathing. There is a close relationship between breathing and divinity.
You can even create your own taijiquan dance with weights. If you are the muscle building kind of person, you can modify the Tai Chi dance by adding on dumbbells. Have you tried doing a slow motion dance with weights. Be creative. What you need is 1 kilo, 2 kilo, or 3 kilo dumbbells, a radio or walkman with earphones and go for it. Turn on the radio to give the music, grab the dumbbells (one in each palm) and do a slow motion dance; slowly you will be dancing to the tune of the music. Again, go slow, go long. (You can dance without the music too.) If you do not have two dumbbells to grab, then grab two stones, two pebbles, two pieces of hardware, two pieces of timber, etc. Make sure the weights are light enough for you to carry (1 kilo, 2 kilos) for a 10 minute dance. How long you want to dance is up to you. The lighter the weight, the longer you can dance; the heavier the weight, the shorter you can dance. The objective is to go slow, go long. It is a dumbbell dance or weight dance.
There are those who recommend that you be conscious of your breathing at all times. It helps to calm you down and take life one day at a time. You might want to read up more about improving your breathing by visiting internet websites on breathing. I still feel that you should use the go slow go long dance to improve your breathing. I type this portion of the document while doing the go slow go long dance, taking a break for a few seconds to type and then going back to dancing. It’s about breathing. It’s a moving meditation. It’s about soothing the self. Practice, practice and your breathing will improve by itself. Do not regulate breathing, it will regulate itself. Do not enforce your breathing, but free your breathing and it would change by itself. Keep moving your arms and legs and your breathing will synchronize itself. You should use your arms and legs to exercise your breathing. Once again, do not enforce your breathing, but free your breathing and it would change by itself. That is, simply focus on your arms and legs and your lungs will take care of itself.
If 6.5 billion of us are to get along and coexist in this world, then our best bet would be to find ways to tame the human being without using drugs, tobacco, or alcohol. If 6.5 billion of us are to get along and coexist in this world, then our best bet would be to find ways to pacify the human being without using drugs, tobacco, or alcohol. If 6.5 billion of us are to get along and coexist in this world, then our best bet would be to find ways to stabilize the human being without using drugs, tobacco, or alcohol. You have to be passive, yet stable. You have to be tame, yet unperturbed. You have to be non-violent, yet non-submissive. You have to be not offensive, and yet stable enough to engage in self-defense. Therefore, try go slow go long dances. The longer you dance, the stronger you will get.
The slow motion tai chi dance will help to calm you. It will make a difference. It will erase the hate in you. It will help you to forget the past. It will erase the hurt in you. The past is the past. Seize the day.
In Yoga you are not a slave of your mind, but you conquer your own mind. Please use your pranayam/breathing to conquer your own mind. There is a relationship between divinity and pranayam/breathing. There is plenty of “hurt” and “hate” in this world. Despite the hurt, you have to continue to show up for work in order to make a living, which is a challenge. If you are a seller, despite the hurt, you have to continue to sell, which is a challenge. If you do nothing, then dwelling on the hurt may overwhelm you. Do not allow the hurt to win. Defeat the hurt. The hurt is the devil. Defeat the devil. Do not allow the devil to conquer you. Defeat the devil. There is a way. Try the slow motion taijiquan dance. Whenever you think of the hurt, give your mind something to do like slow motion movements with your body parts. Slow motion movements can erase the hurt and hate. The slower the motion, the more effective the erasing of the memory of hurt or hate. Defeat the devil. Victory is a certainty. If you maintain this slow movement for a few minutes, then pretty soon your breathing would change, which is a healthy phenomenon. Your breathing changes because your lungs and other parts of your body are connected like gears; and so when you move your arms in slow motion, then your lungs eventually respond because they are all connected like gears. The slower the better. Go slow, go long. The slower the more benefits you get. When you do the slow motion movement, after some minutes, your breathing changes. This is good. When your breathing changes, you are having communion with god. This is more than an exercise. It is communion with the god within you. God is the unmanifested one within you; and you are the manifestation of the unmanifested one. When you do your slow motion exercise, your breathing changes, and now you are in communion with god; you are closer to god; you are in merger with god; you are at rest with god; the manifested one and the unmanifested one are closer to each other. You are undergoing ablution with this merger of you and god. To achieve this merger you must do your go slow, go long exercise periodically. If you are doing it rightly, your breathing will change. Do not interfere with your breathing. Leave your breathing alone. Your breathing will take care of itself. When your breathing changes, it changes. When you finish your exercise, your breathing will return to normal. . Exercise is like smelting ore. When you smelt gold ore, the ore heats up and the impurities melt away. And what is left behind, the residue, is pure gold. Similarly, when you engage in exercise, your body heats up, the impurities melt away, and what is left behind, the residue, is the purer self/soul. Physical exercise is one way to achieve ablution.
Yes, one way to engage in self-improvement is to try to never to repeat your mistakes. Yoga is not about preparing for the afterlife. In yoga it would not be asking too much if we expect results today. Yoga is about you preparing to deal with today’s world. Our daily tasks are important. Yoga is about you achieving stability to deal with today’s world, not the afterlife. Yoga is about you engaging in self-improvement, achieving stability, and improving your performance in your daily tasks. In yoga we attach greater value to today’s world, not preparing for the afterlife. The afterlife is the afterlife. The afterlife comes later. Later is later. Yoga is about today’s world, not the afterlife. Yoga is about you strengthening yourself so that you will be able to be a more stable person and face today’s world. Physical fitness is a part of Yoga. Through sports and exercise you would be able to achieve personal stability. What happens after you achieve personal stability? There would be a change in your daily tasks after you achieve personal stability. If you have personal stability, you would be able to improve the performance in your daily tasks. Yoga is about you strengthening yourself to face today’s world, to make the world a better place for all of us. One way to engage in self-improvement is to try to never to repeat your mistakes; and this is one way to deal with today’s world. In yoga we will use our strength to shape and reshape this world into a better one. In yoga we demand results today, not preparing for the after life. Our daily tasks are important. The DMIC offers an opportunity to the Indian youth to prove something. Please prove to yourself that you are better than the Japanese. You are young only once. You should work hard when you are young because as you grow older, you grow weaker. Once again, please prove to yourself that you are better than the Japanese. Do not surrender easily. Do not give up easily. Please keep correcting your mistakes. As much as possible, please do not repeat your mistakes.
Yoga is about you engaging in self-improvement. All of us, without exception, need to engage in self-improvement. There is always room for self-improvement. You use pranayama/breathing to cleanse yourself. You use pranayama to correct yourself. You use pranayama to stabilize yourself. You use pranayama to reduce your nervousness. To find out more about pranayama, please go to http://www.google.com/ and type the word PRANAYAMA.
We are all at different levels of nervousness. There is a solution. Try pranayama. Pranayama will strengthen you.
We are all at different levels of fearfulness. There is a solution. Try pranayama. Pranayama will strengthen you.
Breathing and digestion are part of our autonomic nervous system, the body’s involuntary functions. By turning the involuntary into the voluntary you may be able to achieve self-mastery, which a goal of Pranayama. Pranayama is a component of Yoga. Try Pranayama.
As more than one billion Indians inhale and exhale, India will grow and grow. She should grow in a non-threatening and non-submissive way. It is India’s duty to teach the art of being non-threatening and non-submissive to the rest of the world; and this is Pranayama. The socio-economic benefits of Pranayama are enormous. Pranayama does not require that you convert from one religion to another. Pranayama is recommended to all 6.5 billion of us. You should find ways to use more of your lungs.
In the developed nations, the people live mostly in cities, while in a developing nation like India the people live mostly in the villages. Today India’s population of one billion is stretched thin as it is spread out mostly in the villages in India. That is, there are too many villages and thus India is too decentralized, which has weakened her socially, politically, and economically. The good news is that India’s population is restructuring. The good news is that India’s population is urbanizing. Like the developed nations, she will eventually restructure into metropolises. Slowly but surely the villages will surrender to the metropolises. It is these metropolises that will strengthen her socially, politically, and economically. It is these metropolises that will breathe life to her socially, politically, and economically. Her metropolises will find their niche in the global economy. Yes, as more than one billion Indians inhale and exhale, she will grow and grow into metropolises. She should grow in a non-threatening and non-submissive way.
India has a population of more than one billion. Despite her one billion strong population she is not even half as strong as she could be. This is due to the fact that her one billion strong population is divided into numerous villages. There are too many villages in India. There is a surplus of villages in India. She is stretched thin. That is, the villages are not integrated into the global economy. The solution is that Indians have to regroup. The solution is urbanization. Instead of India being divided into villages, she has to be divided into cities, metropolises, and megapolises. Once India urbanizes, she will gain strength socially, politically, and economically.
In this urbanization of India, the villages will exhale/rechaka their population while the metropolises will inhale/pooraka the same population. The metropolises may retain/kumbhaka some of the population, if not all of the population. As a general rule, the villages exhale/rechaka, while the metropolises inhale/pooraka and retain/kumbhaka. Yes, as more than one billion Indians inhale and exhale, she will grow and grow into metropolises. She should grow in a non-threatening and non-submissive way.
If Indians want to relocate and urbanize, please leave them alone. Let the market decide for itself. The market works best when it is sufficiently de-controlled by politicians. The people are the market and do know how to take care of themselves. The market is always changing. We are the market. The market is composed of buying and selling goods, services and ideas. It is hard (in fact, impossible) to keep track of the market because it is composed of billions of buyers and sellers world-wide. Business cycles are hard to predict. There are always surpluses and shortages in the market. Surpluses sometimes become shortages over time; and shortages, over time, sometimes become surpluses too. If you move from an area of surplus to an area of shortages, you would be doing yourself and the market a favor. Yes, the market is always changing. Leave the market alone. The people are the market and do know how to take care of themselves. The people know what to do. Let the market take care of itself. Let the market decide for itself.
If we can use more of our lungs, we would be on the right track.
Irrespective of who you are, there is always room for self-improvement. So, in pranayama, you conquer your mind, conquer your breathing, and conquer your digestive system to achieve self-improvement. So, in pranayama, you conquer your mind, conquer your breathing, and conquer your digestive system to achieve self-mastery.
In Yoga you are not a slave of your mind, but you conquer your own mind. Only you have the right to conquer your own mind. Please use your pranayam/breathing to conquer your own mind. There is a relationship between divinity and pranayam/breathing. Yoga is about you using your pranayam to become an unperturbed person: unperturbed by stress. Yoga is about you using your pranayam to become a non-submissive person: non-submissive to stress. I would hope that a relationship between Japan and India would gradually stabilize. I hope both nations would accept each other as long term friends. I am sure we can all breathe easy now.
