Is there a shortage of food or is there a surplus of food? My understanding is that if food is defined as nutrients for the body, then there are plenty of nutrients in this planet. However, as human beings, we are selective of the nutrients we consume. Our taste buds have a bias; and based on this bias, we select our foods. We often select the foods the way our parents have raised us. To a certain extent our parents mold our taste buds. We have to break this parent-child dictatorship as regards to the food we consume. It would be difficult to change the eating habits of adults. However, we have to plan for the future. Our children are the future. The public school system can help to break parent-child dictatorship as regards to the food we consume. There are schools in India that give food to the children. May I suggest that an attempt be made to mold the taste buds of our children. We have to use political power to mold the taste buds of our children. The children in schools should be given not what the adults eat, but what the adults generally do not eat. The children in schools should be given not what the parents eat, but what the parents generally do not eat. We want our children to eat both Eastern and Western foods. We want our children to eat fusion foods. We want our children to be trained at an early age to eat different kinds of foods. We want to survive in this planet. We want to co-exist in this planet. We want to use food to bring the human beings together.
How about energy bars and nutrition bars? If you want to find out more about nutrition bars, then please do go to www.google.com and type the words NUTRITION BARS. We should use the public schools to train our children to eat, at least once in a way, nutrition and energy bars. I know some Indians who would not be satisfied until they eat rice; and these Indians have taste buds which tell them that only rice is food. Pardon me. There are 6.5 billion people in this world and not all of them eat rice; and some of them are happy not to eat rice. I know some Indians who would not be satisfied until they have a chair and table to eat curry stew on rice with their fingers; and these Indians feel that life would be incomplete without curry stew on rice. The reality is that there are different kinds of foods besides curry stew and rice. There are many different kinds of foods and many different kinds of nutrients. Some times, if you are in a hurry, then you may have to eat while standing up. Some times if you are in a hurry, then you have to eat a nutrition bar. I am an adult and I know that my eating habits are hard to change: my beloved mother may have molded my taste buds a little too much. I am hoping that the next generation of Indians would be different.
Also, the importance of sports cannot be underestimated. Even the late Swami Vivekananda was in favor of us engaging in physical development. In the Hindu context, physical improvement is simply another way to achieve yoga/union.
Our children are the future. Therefore we have to make sure that India has a good public school system. It is important that we separate teachers from exams. One day the children of India will turn India into a developed nation.
If India is looking for role models for work ethics, then India does not have to look far. I would recommend that India rely on the military people as the role model. The armed forces have served as the role model for management techniques to the private sector all over the world. Further more, as domestic competition inside India increases, there would be changes in India’s work ethics.
Economic growth alone is not enough. We have to keep social problems at a minimum. In this respect, allow me to commend Indians for keeping arranged marriages popular. Arranged marriages may have helped to reduce some social problems that have plagued some other nations.
A closer relationship between India and Japan will also help. Japan is the first Asian nation to achieve developed nation status. India has been through Western colonial occupation. She obtained her independence in 1947. A closer relationship between India and Japan may help to re-Asianize the Asians. We have to ensure that this century would be the Asian century. With a population of 127 million and100% literacy rate, Japan is no nation for Indians to ignore. India is a non-aligned movement nation. Japan is a developed nation, while India is a developing nation. It is unlikely that Japan would grow as fast as she did in the 1950's and 1960's. This is year 2007 and now it is India's turn to grow. It would be naive of Japan if she did not take advantage of India's growth potential. The onus is on Japan to find her niche in India. A closer relationship between Japan and India would be mutually beneficial. Both are Asian nations. My personal experience tells me that Japanese and Indians would have few problems working together. I dare say that I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do.

NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT (NAM) and India.
The non-aligned movement (NAM) is a collection of nations. To find out more about NAM please go to http://www.google.com/ and type the words NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT. The non-aligned movement or NAM is an important part of India’s identity. In 1954 the late Indian Prime Minister J. Nehru coined the term “non-alignment”. Over the years India has been identified with NAM. Many of us Indians have been raised for decades with India’s NAM position. Over the years we Indians have become at rest with NAM.
Mahatma Gandhi wanted swaraj for India. Swaraj is a desire by the Indian people to resist foreign domination of India. Swaraj is dear to the Indian people.
India is a sovereign independent nation. Every nation has a different world view. Every nation takes decisions based on her own realities. India is entitled to her world view. NAM is India’s position in this world.
Yes, every nation has to take decisions based on her own realities. No matter which nation India has ties with, she should not compromise on her NAM position. I think Japan and India can have a mutually beneficial relationship without India compromising on her NAM position. In fact, if Japan wants to have closer relations with India, she should accept India as a NAM nation. Japan has to decide whether she wants to accept India as a NAM nation or not. The onus is on Japan to find her niche in India.
I have not known of a people who are as dedicated to their work as the Japanese. I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do. Japanese punctuality is hard to beat. It would be hard to prove that Japan had benefited from well qualified and talented immigrants as USA has. The Asians became more assertive and demanded independence from White rule. One by one all the Asian nations became independent. The Cold War ensued and nations had to choose sides. Amidst the Cold War, some nations decided to remain NAM nations. May be NAM is relevant or irrelevant in year 2007. I do not know if NAM is relevant or irrelevant in year 2007. In any case, our motherland India cannot afford to give up on her sovereignty and independence. Indians should think carefully and decide in the best interests of India.
By the 1960's, the Japanese made a second invasion of Asia. This time the Japanese did not send troops. This time the Japanese flooded Asia with made in Japan goods, which almost drove the made in Europe and USA goods out of the Asian market.
The first attempt by the Japanese, using the code of bushido, proved to be a failure. The Japanese are quick at learning from their mistakes. They may never ever make this mistake again; and the objective is to correct your mistake. The code of bushido is a big mistake. The code of bushido may have outlived its usefulness. Today’s world and yesterday’s world are different. Yes, the code of bushido might have outlived its usefulness. The second attempt by the Japanese was markedly different. Post-war Japan had shunned the code of bushido. Post war Japan switched from military to economics; yes, the Japanese had corrected their mistake. Post-war Japan was centered on work, work, and work. It is possible to live without the code of bushido, but it is almost impossible to live without work. Anybody can live without the code of bushido, but not too many people can live without work. You must be stable and be at rest with your work. I have not known of a people who are as dedicated to their work as the Japanese. I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do.

By the 1970’s the quality of made in Japan goods had already improved significantly. They corrected their mistake again. By the 1980’s the quality of made in Japan was on par with made in Europe or USA goods. They corrected their mistake again. By the 1990’s the quality of made in Japan had in some cases surpassed made in Europe or USA goods. Yes, the Japanese are quick at correcting their mistakes. I would hope that a relationship between Japan and India would gradually stabilize. I hope both nations would accept each other as long term friends.

Outsourcing.
A developing nation is like a growing child. In sharp contrast, a developed nation is like an adult who has long since stopped growing.
A developing nation is like a growing child and therefore changes every year. A developed nation does not change much yearly. Developed nations do grow but usually grow slower than developing nations.
Yes, Americans are a competitive people and probably could outperform other workers in an even playing field. It could be because the American youth grow up with better nutrition and almost on skateboards. Yes, the important thing is to start early and some American kids are almost raised on skateboards. Most of these youthful skateboard Americans eventually join America's energetic workforce, while a handful of them become juvenile delinquents, party animals, and adrenaline junkies. I have known some female Americans who look stronger than Asian males. The kind of things the American youth can do in a skate park continues to baffle me. With a population of 300 million, 98% literacy rate, and little disparity between rich and poor, USA is no nation to be underrated. Just as there are different kinds of Indians, there are different kinds of Americans. Some Americans are unwilling to accept the old values of starting at entry level and working their way to the top: that is, they want to go straight to the top, like being a supervisor, manager, or CEO. While some Americans are underrated, there are a few Americans who are overrated. Some Americans will not accept anything less than get rich quick work. Some Americans will give numerous excuses for being unemployed, even when there is work available. It is widely known that Americans have a higher turnover rate in the work environment than the Japanese. Some American females do not work because they are waiting for a rich male to come by and marry them. Just because a person moves fast in the work environment, it does not mean that the person is productive because if you move too fast you can make mistakes too; and mistakes can be costly. If you think Americans do not make mistakes, then you had better guess again. Yes, there are different kinds of Americans, and Indians are no exception.
My heart, however, goes out to single moms in USA who raise the children through hard work because of good-for-nothing boyfriends/dads or dads/boyfriends who disappear. If the boyfriend/dad disappears, then the mother has to raise the children on her own. So my heart goes to the mother in USA who raises the children through hard work. Yes, always love your mother. Mother's love for the children is hard to beat.

Economic activity, however, is not about even playing fields. Economic activity is about the law of comparative advantages, whereby you have your market niche and I have my market niche. Sometimes different communities have a different market niche. Immigrants in USA do have their market niche. For India, it seems that India has her so called demographic dividend to her advantage. In the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s, and probably even now, there was a brain drain from developing nations to USA. This brain drain was a gain to USA and a loss to developing nations. Many developing nations complained about USA benefiting from the brain drain; but the complaints of developing nations fell on deaf years in USA. It is no secret that USA had benefited from this brain drain. Though it was the US flag that was planted on the moon, it is no secret that immigrants from many nations had either directly or indirectly contributed to USA’s showpiece project, the space program. There are numerous universities in USA that have some immigrant instructors. USA has always benefited from well-qualified and talented immigrants.
This is year 2007. It might be possible that the situation may have been reversed, or at least partially reversed, or at least beginning to reverse. The good news for India is that, as India’s economy improves, some Indians living outside India are returning to India. Yes, slowly but surely the Indian Diaspora are returning to Mother India; and these returnees may have something to contribute to India’s economy. In year 2007 some manufacturing facilities close shop in USA and reopen in Asia. Some people call this outsourcing. Some Americans complain that outsourcing increases unemployment in USA. Not quite. Outsourcing helps Americans keep their buying power and standard of living. To find out more, please keep reading.
No American will work for less than US$6 per hour. If it is union labor in USA, then Americans would get paid US$10 per hour, US$15 per hour, or even more. Let us take the case of shoes. The reason why Americans can buy cheap tennis shoes or sneakers for $10, $20, $30 is because these shoes are made in Asia. Some of the Asian workers get paid 20 cents per hour, 30 cents per hour, or 40 cents per hour, 75 cents per hour, and 100 cents per hour. This explains why Americans can buy cheap imported shoes and other manufactured goods from developing nations. If tennis shoes were made in USA, then the $30 shoes would probably cost about $90 or $120, etc because US cost of labor is much higher than cost of labor in developing nations. If all the goods were made in USA, then the current retail prices in USA would have to be multiplied by 3 or 4 times, etc. again because US cost of labor is much higher than cost of labor in developing nations. If all the goods were made in USA, then the US retail prices would increase because it reflects US cost of labor; if the retail prices increase, it would result in a decrease in the buying power of Americans; if there is a decrease in the buying power of Americans, then there would be a commensurate decrease in the standard of living of Americans. The only way out is for the manufacturer to close the manufacturing facility in USA and reopen in Asia and take advantage of the cheap labor in Asia. Have you noticed that every once in a while, the retailers in USA give special discount sales and drop prices of some items by 20% or 30%. Some times the American retailers put up price tags that state “Buy one get one free”. Do you actually think that all these items are made in USA? Give me a break. For your information, many Americans (and me too) do build their lives around buying discount sales items, but I would imagine that this is a world-wide phenomenon. If these items are all made in USA, I doubt it if you could get this very many special discount sales, and “Buy one get one free” offers. Many retail stores in USA would probably close shop if all the imported items on display are removed; and if the retail store closes shop, then the retail store employees risk becoming unemployed. From Asia will come cheap goods which will enter USA and fill the shelves in American retail stores. Americans will buy the cheap goods and continue to keep their buying power and standard of living. Yes, Americans are dependent on cheap goods manufactured in Asia. In this case Americans are the buyers, and Asians are the producers/sellers. But Asians as sellers are also dependent on American buyers. Yes, the buyer is dependent on the seller; and the seller is dependent on the buyer.
In short, made in Asia/Latin America shoes are cheaper than made is USA shoes, made in Asia/Latin America fabric is cheaper than made in USA fabric, made in Asia/Latin America computers are cheaper than made in USA computers, made in Asia/Latin America microwave ovens are cheaper than made in USA microwave ovens. It is not often that I see made in USA shoes, fabric, computers, or microwave ovens or television sets. If you go into the homes of the Governors and Mayors and other politicians of USA, you have a pretty good chance that some of the household appliances or fabric they use are not made in USA. Like many other people I just love to buy the cheapest goods in the retail stores. None of my under-wears are made in USA and I wonder what the politicians use?
If international trade stops tomorrow, then it would hurt both sides. Both the buyer and the seller would be hurt by a stop in international trade.
Let me look for some signs. For example, I have been told that nothing is made in the Silicon Valley (California) any more. If it is true, it is not surprising. It is probably because the manufacturing facilities have relocated to Asia or Latin America. It is a changing world and we have to take life one day at a time. I think international trade and economic interdependence in going to increase.

There is more for USA and EU in the future. Let us suppose that China and India continue to increase exports to USA and EU. As China and India increase exports to USA and EU, they will grow economically, and this may turn out to be a good sign for USA and EU in the long run. As China and India grow economically, they would grow richer. I have read something to the effect that by year 2020 both China and India would have a growing middle income group. This combined middle income group from China and India would have more buying power. At least some of the year 2020 or year 2030 Chinese and Indians may buy USA and EU goods and services and visit USA and EU as tourists, which would enrich USA and EU. What does this mean? Before 2030 USA and EU would enrich the developing nations through international trade. After year 2030 international trade will continue with both sides enriching each other. May be. I don’t know, and neither do you. The future is uncertain. We will take life one day at a time and when we get to 2020 or 2030 we will know. If you are from USA or EU please do not celebrate yet, because we are talking about year 2020 or 2030.
In the long run it is going to be a win-win for both developed and developing nations; and so can we all breathe easy now?

A developing nation is like a growing child and therefore changes every year. A developed nation does not change much yearly. Developed nations do grow but usually grow slower than developing nations.
Yes, Americans are a competitive people and probably could outperform other workers in an even playing field. It could be because the American youth grow up with better nutrition and almost on skateboards. Yes, the important thing is to start early and some American kids are almost raised on skateboards. Most of these youthful skateboard Americans eventually join America's energetic workforce, while a handful of them become juvenile delinquents, party animals, and adrenaline junkies. I have known some female Americans who look stronger than Asian males. The kind of things the American youth can do in a skate park continues to baffle me. With a population of 300 million, 98% literacy rate, and little disparity between rich and poor, USA is no nation to be underrated. Just as there are different kinds of Indians, there are different kinds of Americans. Some Americans are unwilling to accept the old values of starting at entry level and working their way to the top: that is, they want to go straight to the top, like being a supervisor, manager, or CEO. While some Americans are underrated, there are a few Americans who are overrated. Some Americans will not accept anything less than get rich quick work. Some Americans will give numerous excuses for being unemployed, even when there is work available. It is widely known that Americans have a higher turnover rate in the work environment than the Japanese. Some American females do not work because they are waiting for a rich male to come by and marry them. Just because a person moves fast in the work environment, it does not mean that the person is productive because if you move too fast you can make mistakes too; and mistakes can be costly. If you think Americans do not make mistakes, then you had better guess again. Yes, there are different kinds of Americans, and Indians are no exception.
My heart, however, goes out to single moms in USA who raise the children through hard work because of good-for-nothing boyfriends/dads or dads/boyfriends who disappear. If the boyfriend/dad disappears, then the mother has to raise the children on her own. So my heart goes to the mother in USA who raises the children through hard work. Yes, always love your mother. Mother's love for the children is hard to beat.
I have not known of a people who are as dedicated to their work as the Japanese. I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do. Japanese punctuality is hard to beat. It would be hard to prove that Japan had benefited from well qualified and talented immigrants as USA has. With a population of 127 million and100% literacy rate, Japan is no nation for Indians to ignore. India is a non-aligned movement nation. Japan is a developed nation, while India is a developing nation. It is unlikely that Japan would grow as fast as she did in the 1950's and 1960's. Now it is India's turn to grow. It would be naive of Japan if she did not take advantage of India's growth potential. A closer relationship between Japan and India would be mutually beneficial. Both are Asian nations. My personal experience tells me that Japanese and Indians would have few problems working together. I dare say that I have not known of a people who have reverence for work as the Japanese do.
Economic activity, however, is not about even playing fields. Economic activity is about the law of comparative advantages, whereby you have your market niche and I have my market niche. Sometimes different communities have a different market niche. Immigrants in USA do have their market niche. For India, it seems that India has her so called demographic dividend to her advantage. In the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s, and probably even now, there was a brain drain from developing nations to USA. This brain drain was a gain to USA and a loss to developing nations. Many developing nations complained about USA benefiting from the brain drain; but the complaints of developing nations fell on deaf years in USA. It is no secret that USA had benefited from this brain drain. Though it was the US flag that was planted on the moon, it is no secret that immigrants from many nations had either directly or indirectly contributed to USA’s showpiece project, the space program. There are numerous universities in USA that have some immigrant instructors. USA has always benefited from well-qualified and talented immigrants.
This is year 2007. It might be possible that the situation may have been reversed, or at least partially reversed, or at least beginning to reverse. The good news for India is that, as India’s economy improves, some Indians living outside India are returning to India. Yes, slowly but surely the Indian Diaspora are returning to Mother India; and these returnees may have something to contribute to India’s economy. In year 2007 some manufacturing facilities close shop in USA and reopen in Asia. Some people call this outsourcing. Some Americans complain that outsourcing increases unemployment in USA. Not quite. Outsourcing helps Americans keep their buying power and standard of living. To find out more, please keep reading.
No American will work for less than US$6 per hour. If it is union labor in USA, then Americans would get paid US$10 per hour, US$15 per hour, or even more. Let us take the case of shoes. The reason why Americans can buy cheap tennis shoes or sneakers for $10, $20, $30 is because these shoes are made in Asia. Some of the Asian workers get paid 20 cents per hour, 30 cents per hour, or 40 cents per hour, 75 cents per hour, and 100 cents per hour. This explains why Americans can buy cheap imported shoes and other manufactured goods from developing nations. If tennis shoes were made in USA, then the $30 shoes would probably cost about $90 or $120, etc because US cost of labor is much higher than cost of labor in developing nations. If all the goods were made in USA, then the current retail prices in USA would have to be multiplied by 3 or 4 times, etc. again because US cost of labor is much higher than cost of labor in developing nations. If all the goods were made in USA, then the US retail prices would increase because it reflects US cost of labor; if the retail prices increase, it would result in a decrease in the buying power of Americans; if there is a decrease in the buying power of Americans, then there would be a commensurate decrease in the standard of living of Americans. The only way out is for the manufacturer to close the manufacturing facility in USA and reopen in Asia and take advantage of the cheap labor in Asia. Have you noticed that every once in a while, the retailers in USA give special discount sales and drop prices of some items by 20% or 30%. Some times the American retailers put up price tags that state “Buy one get one free”. Do you actually think that all these items are made in USA? Give me a break. For your information, many Americans (and me too) do build their lives around buying discount sales items, but I would imagine that this is a world-wide phenomenon. If these items are all made in USA, I doubt it if you could get this very many special discount sales, and “Buy one get one free” offers. Many retail stores in USA would probably close shop if all the imported items on display are removed; and if the retail store closes shop, then the retail store employees risk becoming unemployed. From Asia will come cheap goods which will enter USA and fill the shelves in American retail stores. Americans will buy the cheap goods and continue to keep their buying power and standard of living. Yes, Americans are dependent on cheap goods manufactured in Asia. In this case Americans are the buyers, and Asians are the producers/sellers. But Asians as sellers are also dependent on American buyers. Yes, the buyer is dependent on the seller; and the seller is dependent on the buyer.
In short, made in Asia/Latin America shoes are cheaper than made is USA shoes, made in Asia/Latin America fabric is cheaper than made in USA fabric, made in Asia/Latin America computers are cheaper than made in USA computers, made in Asia/Latin America microwave ovens are cheaper than made in USA microwave ovens. It is not often that I see made in USA shoes, fabric, computers, or microwave ovens or television sets. If you go into the homes of the Governors and Mayors and other politicians of USA, you have a pretty good chance that some of the household appliances or fabric they use are not made in USA. Like many other people I just love to buy the cheapest goods in the retail stores. None of my under-wears are made in USA and I wonder what the politicians use?
If international trade stops tomorrow, then it would hurt both sides. Both the buyer and the seller would be hurt by a stop in international trade.
Let me look for some signs. For example, I have been told that nothing is made in the Silicon Valley (California) any more. If it is true, it is not surprising. It is probably because the manufacturing facilities have relocated to Asia or Latin America. It is a changing world and we have to take life one day at a time. Nothing is fair culture
On the one hand we have Mahatma Gandhi as a man of character, and on the other hand we have the nothing is fair culture. The American culture, if I understand it well, is centered on a nothing is fair culture. You hear this “nothing is fair” thing from Americans quite a bit. It has made Americans competitive. American competitiveness is linked to this nothing is fair culture of the Americans. Yes, USA is a competitive nation. Now you know why USA is competitive: it is because the American culture is a nothing is fair culture.
In sharp contrast, Mahatma Gandhi was a different person. He was a man of character. On the one hand we have Mahatma Gandhi as a man of character, and on the other hand we have the nothing is fair culture. As a Hindu, I am torn between these two loyalties.

Arranged marriages
Arranged marriages are almost unique to South Asians. Arranged marriages are also popular in the South West Asian nations. So arranged marriages are popular in South and South West Asia; and arranged marriages almost define people in this region. The people of South Asia and South West Asia are the arranged marriage people. I guess there are two kinds of people in this world: those who are supportive of arranged marriages and those who are unsupportive of arranged marriages.
You see, there are other non-Asian nations that have a diverse population and income disparity as India’s, but per capita, they have far more social problems than Hindus. Why? My enlightenment tells me that it is probably because, per capita, they produce far more illegitimate babies than Hindus. Illegitimate persons do not know who they are, or how they came to this world. They are rootless people. They are generally not ashamed to misbehave. Of course, this is a stereotype of illegitimates and there are many exceptions. In such non-Asian societies arranged marriage is almost impossible to introduce as a cure to reduce the birth of illegitimate babies to a minimum. However, Hindus are arrange marriage people any way, and this is where the advantage of Hindus over non-Asians lay; and in this world if you do not take advantage of your advantage, then you are a fool. I guess there are two kinds of people in this world: on the one hand there are the arranged marriage people, and on the other hand there are the illegitimate babies people. Let us hope that Hindus perpetuate arranged marriages as long as they can in order to reduce social problems to a minimum. We South Asians need to define ourselves as the arrange marriage people and be proud of it.
Without giving up arranged marriages, we Hindu’s have been able to achieve the second fastest growing economy in the world. Without sacrificing arranged marriages, India has achieved a multi-party political system, one person one vote, and an independent judiciary. Electronic voting machines (EVM’s) are increasingly being used in India. Without giving up arranged marriages, India manages more than one billion people through a multi party political system, which is unprecedented in human history.
I am proud to say that my beloved parents engaged in arranged marriage. I know who I am. I know who my parents are. It is crystal clear to me who my beloved parents are. I am rootful, not rootless. There are certain good things among Hindus that we want to keep. As a Hindu if you agree with me, please do put arranged marriages without enforcement up on a pedestal. Within India I think arranged marriage without enforcement is widespread among both Hindus and non-Hindus and so I think India should be okay.
I hope that I would not be considered racially prejudiced. For decades, Whites have done extensive anthropological studies of non-Whites. There are numerous books that have been written by Whites on anthropology. Since I am a non-White, I decided to do an anthropological study of Whites.
It is very common in USA for persons who reach the age of 18 to move out of their parent’s homes and live elsewhere; and if the person does not move out of the parent’s home at age 18, he then risks being asked to leave home by the parents. There is a need to understand that USA has a different culture and South Asia has a different culture. If Americans want to move out of their parent’s home at age 18, it is their own prerogative. Americans may have their own reasons for detaching from their parents at age 18, and I hope they continue to do so because it not for me to decide American family values. Some Americans come from dysfunctional families and I call them rootless, family-less, and parent-less people; and these people are often street smart. It pains me to state that there are many deadbeat parents in USA; nobody knows how many deadbeat parents there are in USA; nobody will ever know how many deadbeat parents there are in USA. American family values are American family values, and Asian family values are Asian family values. In Asia, it is very common for grandparents, parents, and grandchildren to live under the same roof. The Japanese work for the same employer for many years. In South Asia and South West Asia, arranged marriages are very common. So there is a difference between Asians and Whites. Once again, this is not a knock on Whites because there are different kinds of Whites, just as there are different kinds of South Asians. Numerous Whites have been kind to me and I appreciate their kindness. Some of the best people I have known are Whites.
Yes, in South Asia and South West Asia, arranged marriages are very common. India's historical ties with South West Asia cannot be denied. Attempts to divide the peoples of South Asia and South West Asia should be resisted. Good neighborliness should be a cornerstone of India's foreign policy. Please do keep your team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving.
India’s best bet would be to keep team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving. I shall try to prove the advantages of team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving. For instance, is the tiger stronger than the dogs? It all depends. One tiger can defeat one dog any day. However, what will happen if the dogs pool their resources? If 30 dogs unite, then the 30 dogs as a united force can defend themselves against one tiger any day. Self-defense is an inviolable human right. It all depends on how united the Indians are. Similarly, one engineer in the Western nations may be qualitatively better than one engineer in India. However, if ten engineers in India unite, meet regularly, and share their experiences, and teach each other, then all ten engineers would improve rapidly and be a match to Western engineers. Similarly, if ten physicians in India unite, meet regularly, and share their experiences, and teach each other, then all ten physicians would improve rapidly and be a match to Western physicians. Thus engineers and technicians meeting and sharing experiences and teaching each other is to the advantage of India; and this is why team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving is important. If India’s manpower were to act as individuals competing with each other, and not as a team, they would not be able to improve fast enough to compete with the Western nations. It must be made a national policy that India’s manpower meets regularly to exchange information and teach each other.
The civil engineers in India should meet annually, biennially, or triennially, share their experiences and teach each other; and this meeting will only enrich all the participants. The electrical engineers in India should meet annually, biennially, or triennially, share their experiences and teach each other; and this meeting will only enrich all the participants. The physicians in India should meet annually, biennially, or triennially, share their experiences and teach each other; and this meeting will only enrich all the participants. The software engineers in India should meet annually, biennially, or triennially, share their experiences and teach each other; and this meeting will only enrich all the participants. The wheat farmers in India should meet annually, biennially, or triennially, share their experiences and teach each other; and this meeting will only enrich all the participants. The teachers in India should meet annually, biennially, or triennially, share their experiences and teach each other; and this meeting will only enrich all the participants. I hope this meeting will not degenerate into a buyer-seller meeting place because it will defeat the purpose of sharing experiences and teaching each other.
It is like a pilgrimage. The civil engineers should go on their annual, biennial, or triennial pilgrimage to meet other civil engineers. Each time you act individually, you risk making mistakes. Each time you check something individually, you risk making mistakes because you are a human being. To reduce mistakes, it is better to check collectively. For example, let us discuss editing a document. It is better to get a team to edit the document so as to reduce mistakes. Many minds are better than one. This is why teamwork and team based problem solving is important. Another example I have known of is a fictitious story. Once upon a time there was a king. He wanted a building and so asked a famous architect to design it. The architect proudly presented the plans to the king. The king and his aides checked the design and found out that it was missing a restroom/toilet. The architect, upon realizing his mistake, committed suicide to hide his embarrassment. The solution to the problem is that many people have to do the checking. Many minds are better than one.
My feeling is that politicians and bureaucrats should act only to provide, at best, a room for the meeting of the people. It would be best that politicians and bureaucrats not participate at the meeting because I fear that politicians and bureaucrats may try to fulfill their personal agenda at the meeting. This regular meeting strategy will help to upgrade India’s human resources rapidly and make it withstand foreign competition. I also feel that regular meetings are a cost efficient way to upgrade India’s human resources. If there is good cooperation among Indians, then these regular meetings can give India its competitive edge to face foreign competition. India’s upgrading should be centered on team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving. Please do learn a lesson from dogs. It happens in the forests of Asia all the time. Tigers are cats and hunt individually. Tigers do fear dogs in the forests of Asia. Tigers have been known to run away from a pack of dogs. In fact, a tiger had better run away from a pack of dogs.
In fact, by offering team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving as India's specialty, she may even be able to attract foreign investment.
Also, India should separate teachers from exams.
The Cold War is almost over. What I am about to admit is long overdue. It is a secret I have been living with for years. I am embarrassed to state that I have kept it a secret all these years. It’s about the Second World War. Though many people know this secret, it is time for me to admit it. I have nothing against today’s Germans, but it would be a very different world today if the former USSR was unwilling to pay a heavy price to defeat the Nazi Germans. Allow me to credit the former USSR for defeating Nazi Germany.
After Nazi Germany was defeated in the Second World War, there was a rush to grab German scientists. The USA took German scientists back to USA to build up their nuclear and space program. The USSR took German scientists back to the USSR to build up their nuclear and space program. There is always a high demand for German scientists. Even the French use German scientists. Wait a minute. I think the whole world subscribes to a nothing is fair culture. Yes, over the centuries the USA was able to attract successive waves of talented immigrants who have contributed enormously to USA in order to continuously rejuvenate her and keep her competitive. In sharp contrast, developing nations have never been successful in attracting very many talented immigrants. The good news for India is that, as India’s economy improves, some Indians living outside India are returning to India. Yes, slowly but surely the Indian Diaspora are returning to Mother India; and these returnees may have something to contribute to India’s economy.
The USA would be remembered more for her economic achievements. With a well ingrained nothing is fair culture, she became a competitive nation. Her nothing is fair culture is probably irreversible and advantageous. When you pause and think about it, capitalism is about the pursuit of self interest, and so there is not much room for people of character and plenty of room for a nothing is fair culture in USA. Mahatma Gandhi, as a person of character, would find it very difficult to get ahead in USA. I think it is okay for USA to have a nothing is fair culture because it has made her competitive. The reality is that corporate America is not concerned about human rights, but profit making. Also, the Second World War was fought in Europe and Asia. After the Second World War, Europe and Asia were war ravaged, leaving the economy of USA untouched and in an advantageous position. Besides, successive waves of talented immigrants have contributed enormously to USA in order to continuously rejuvenate her and keep her competitive.
Now, back to arranged marriages. I do not think that arranged marriages are common in China. China is the land of the great teacher Confucius. Taoism emanates from China. The closeness of Yoga and Tai Chi cannot be denied. Buddhism, which emanates from India, has influenced many parts of Asia. I would insist that India maintain good relations and unity with our Chinese brothers and sisters. Asian unity, team work, and team spirit are important. China-India good neighborliness is important. It is extremely important that India maintain good relations with her immediate neighbors. Let us suppose that there are two nations as neighbors. Let us call them nation A and nation B. Since they are neighbors, what happens in nation A may spill over into nation B. Like wise, what happens in nation B may spill over into nation A. Thus it follows that it is in the best interests of both nations to maintain good relations with each other. Thus I would insist that maintaining good relations with your immediate neighbors be the cornerstone of India’s foreign policy.
Do I recommend arranged marriage to the whole world? No. Realities are different in different parts of the world. Each nation has to take decisions based on its own realities.
We should not encourage or discourage arranged marriages in South Asia. Let the market take care of itself. Let the market decide for itself. I think the market in South Asia has already decided because arranged marriages are popular.

You see, there are other non-Asian nations that have a diverse population and income disparity as India’s, but per capita, they have far more social problems than Hindus. Why? My enlightenment tells me that it is probably because, per capita, they produce far more illegitimate babies than Hindus. Illegitimate persons do not know who they are, or how they came to this world. They are rootless people. They are generally not ashamed to misbehave. Of course, this is a stereotype of illegitimates and there are many exceptions. In such non-Asian societies arranged marriage is almost impossible to introduce as a cure to reduce the birth of illegitimate babies to a minimum. However, Hindus are arrange marriage people any way, and this is where the advantage of Hindus over non-Asians lay; and in this world if you do not take advantage of your advantage, then you are a fool. I guess there are two kinds of people in this world: on the one hand there are the arranged marriage people, and on the other hand there are the illegitimate babies people. Let us hope that Hindus perpetuate arranged marriages as long as they can in order to reduce social problems to a minimum. I am proud to say that my beloved parents engaged in arranged marriage. I know who I am. I know who my parents are. It is crystal clear to me who my beloved parents are. I am rootful, not rootless. There are certain good things among Hindus that we want to keep. As a Hindu if you agree with me, please do put arranged marriages without enforcement up on a pedestal. Within India I think arranged marriage without enforcement is widespread among both Hindus and non-Hindus and so I think India should be okay.

It is very common in USA for persons who reach the age of 18 to move out of their parent’s homes and live elsewhere; and if the person does not move out of the parent’s home at age 18, he then risks being asked to leave home by the parents. There is a need to understand that USA has a different culture and South Asia has a different culture. If Americans want to move out of their parent’s home at age 18, it is their own prerogative. Americans may have their own reasons for detaching from their parents at age 18, and I hope they continue to do so because it not for me to decide American family values. Some Americans come from dysfunctional families and I call them rootless, family-less, and parent-less people; and these people are often street smart. It pains me to state that there are many deadbeat parents in USA; nobody knows how many deadbeat parents there are in USA; nobody will ever know how many deadbeat parents there are in USA. However, if ten engineers in India unite, meet regularly, and share their experiences, and teach each other, then all ten engineers would improve rapidly and be a match to Western engineers. Similarly, if ten physicians in India unite, meet regularly, and share their experiences, and teach each other, then all ten physicians would improve rapidly and be a match to Western physicians. Thus engineers and technicians meeting and sharing experiences and teaching each other is to the advantage of India; and this is why team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving is important. If India’s manpower were to act as individuals competing with each other, and not as a team, they would not be able to improve fast enough to compete with the Western nations. It must be made a national policy that India’s manpower meets regularly to exchange information and teach each other.

It would be best that politicians and bureaucrats not participate at the meeting because I fear that politicians and bureaucrats may try to fulfill their personal agenda at the meeting. This regular meeting strategy will help to upgrade India’s human resources rapidly and make it withstand foreign competition. I also feel that regular meetings are a cost efficient way to upgrade India’s human resources. If there is good cooperation among Indians, then these regular meetings can give India its competitive edge to face foreign competition. India’s upgrading should be centered on team work, team spirit, and team based problem solving. Please do learn a lesson from dogs. It happens in the forests of Asia all the time. Tigers are cats and hunt individually. Tigers do fear dogs in the forests of Asia. Tigers have been known to run away from a pack of dogs. In fact, a tiger had better run away from a pack of dogs.

Tribute to Biharis.
It is not often that we hear some good economic or social news about Bihar. She is certainly not among the states with good economic growth. In any case, there is one group of Biharis whom I wish to pay tribute to. They are the Bihari migrant workers.
The future Indian will be the relocatable Indian. The future Indian will be the mobile Indian. The future Indian will be the traveling Indian. In a market economy, we should let the market decide how and where India’s manpower will be located and relocated; and the Bihari migrant workers are a good example. I understand that at least some Bihari migrant workers have moved to other parts of India to seek work. This is the right way.
By moving to areas where there are jobs available, the Bihari workers are filling shortages in India. It is about shortages and surpluses. It is about separating the politicians from the economy. It is about getting rid of all the government monopolies.
What should the Indian politicians do about the economy? Nothing. Well, almost nothing. The people/market are not stupid. The people/market do know how to take care of themselves. The people/market do not need the politicians to tell them what to do. I think politicians should take a break. I think politicians should stay home. Why don’t the politicians mind their own business and leave the market economy alone? The less the politicians do, the more the market economy can do; and the more the politicians do, the less the market economy can do. As much as possible we have to get rid of all these government monopolies. I think politicians should stay home; and there are lots of things the politicians can do at home. The politicians can watch television at home. The politicians can watch movies on DVD at home. The politicians can play ping-pong with their family members at home. The politicians can learn yoga exercises at home. The politicians can read a fiction story book at home. The politicians can take a nap at home. There are lots of things the politicians can do at home. In a free market economy, mobility of labor is an important factor. The Indian people do know how to move around and seek employment. No attempt should be made to discourage people from one state to relocate to another state. Let the market decide for itself. The people are smart enough and will figure out how to relocate, when to relocate, and where to relocate. In fact, relocating from one state inside India to another state inside India for better opportunities has been going on for decades. Your work environment is a workplace and also a school. As you work, you also learn. Please do learn as much as possible from your work environment. After you have learned as much as possible, if you want to get ahead, you can start looking for work at another location. If your employer does not pay you well then he will pay a heavy price when you finally leave and relocate to another job. After you learn as much as possible, you can start your own company and start employing people. So the purpose of becoming an employee is to become an employer eventually. Whether your employer approves it or not, you have to find a way to turn your work environment into a school for you. Yes, we should let the market decide how and where India’s manpower will be located and relocated; and as much as possible try not to leave India to look for work because India may need your services.
I understand that there is a Sikh colony in Hyderabad city. I bet you that there are several different colonies in Bombay/Mumbai with each having their own market niche. For instance, I understand that the Gujaratis are well represented in Mumbai's stock trading which may be their market niche. The Muslim Indians are well represented in Bollywood as movie stars, which is their own market niche. Muslim Indians are also famous for their cuisines, which is also their market niche. Different communities may have a different market niche inside Mumbai/Bombay; and through their work, they contribute to India's growth.
It is all about jobs, jobs, jobs. If you go to Mumbai/Bombay or New Delhi, I bet you that there are migrant workers from many other parts of India. In a market economy, we should let the market decide how and where India’s manpower will be located and relocated; and the Bihari migrant workers are a good example. I understand that at least some Bihari migrant workers have moved to other parts of India to seek work. This is the right way.
By moving to areas where there are jobs available, the Bihari workers are filling shortages in India. It is about shortages and surpluses. It is about separating the politicians from the economy. It is about getting rid of all the government monopolies.
What should the Indian politicians do about the economy? Nothing. Well, almost nothing. The people/market are not stupid. The people/market do know how to take care of themselves. The people/market do not need the politicians to tell them what to do. I think politicians should take a break. I think politicians should stay home. Why don’t the politicians mind their own business and leave the market economy alone? The less the politicians do, the more the market economy can do; and the more the politicians do, the less the market economy can do. As much as possible we have to get rid of all these government monopolies. I think politicians should stay home; and there are lots of things the politicians can do at home. The politicians can watch television at home. The politicians can watch movies on DVD at home. The politicians can play ping-pong with their family members at home. The politicians can learn yoga exercises at home. The politicians can read a fiction story book at home. The politicians can take a nap at home. There are lots of things the politicians can do at home. In a free market economy, mobility of labor is an important factor. The Indian people do know how to move around and seek employment. No attempt should be made to discourage people from one state to relocate to another state. Let the market decide for itself. The people are smart enough and will figure out how to relocate, when to relocate, and where to relocate. In fact, relocating from one state inside India to another state inside India for better opportunities has been going on for decades. Your work environment is a workplace and also a school. As you work, you also learn. Please do learn as much as possible from your work environment. After you have learned as much as possible, if you want to get ahead, you can start looking for work at another location. If your employer does not pay you well then he will pay a heavy price when you finally leave and relocate to another job. After you learn as much as possible, you can start your own company and start employing people. So the purpose of becoming an employee is to become an employer eventually. I understand that there is a Sikh colony in Hyderabad city. I bet you that there are several different colonies in Bombay/Mumbai with each having their own market niche. The Muslim Indians are well represented in Bollywood as movie stars, which is their own market niche. Muslim Indians are also famous for their cuisines, which is also their market niche.
