Richard Gere and Shipla Shetty might have displayed affection in public. So what? I think there is a shortage of public display of affection in India. There is no surplus of public display of affection in India. Richard Gere was in India to fight the AIDS epidemic. Richard Gere owes India nothing; and yet he took time off to be in India to fight the AIDS epidemic. We Indians should be grateful to Richard Gere.

How about Mata Amritanandamayi, affectionately known as the “Hugging Mother”? You can visit her website at http://www.amritapuri.org/ While I personally know very little about her, her devotees consider her a saint. She has hugged millions of people including several political leaders in India. At least we can agree that she spreads affection. There are some people in India who spread AIDS. A hug will only spread affection. Richard Gere spread affection, not AIDS. It is some Indians who spread AIDS. We should be grateful to Richard Gere for taking time off to visit India to fight the AIDS epidemic.

There may be a surplus of HIV/AIDS positive people in India; and there may be a shortage of hugs in India. There may also be a shortage of condoms in India. To fight the spreading of AIDS, always use condoms or masturbate. This is the only way I can tell you. Always use condoms or masturbate. Masturbating is safe sex. I am sure there is no shortage of masturbating in India. Any way, we have to find a way to check the spread of AIDS/HIV in India. There may also be a shortage of efforts to check the spread of AIDS/HIV in India. Never underestimate condoms. They are pretty tough.
